Samsung Gear S3 is called one of the best smartwatches available today. Let’s find out why!

It is hard to argue that wearables haven’t achieved must-have status like phones so far. However, we have prepared an interesting product for true fans of smart watches. There is an opinion that Samsung Gear S3 is probably the best smartwatch available today. Let’s see what it has to offer.

The watch comes in two variants: frontier and classic. The classic variant is minimalist and more similar to a real watch while the frontier is slightly more bulky and rugged in design.

The new Gear S3 frontier has IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Still, that doesn’t mean you can take this for a swim just yet. The watch comes with GPS, built-in altimeter and barometer. The option will be very convenient if you are planning to take hiking trips.

The design of Gear S3 resembles the previous S2 version.  There’s a rotating bezel on top, which can be used to control applications on the watch. Samsung has added the option to take calls from the device itself for Android users while calls used to be continued on the phone with the Gear S2.

Samsung has prepared a number of good additions for sports fans as well. The Gear S3 comes with a built-in heart-rate monitor, thus it can record a number of fitness functions including gym, cycling. There are special modes for those who are involved in pilates and yoga activities.

Gear S3 has enhanced functionality. Taking into consideration that smartwatches are not mainstream, with people wondering what’s the overall purpose, this ability to take calls is a welcome addition. You can easily take calls directly from the watch just by swiping on the green call symbol. There are no problems with call feature operation if the watch isn’t too far from the phone. As for incoming notifications from the phone, Gear S3 certainly lets you managing them just as all other smartwatches do. You can use the watch to reply to WhatsApp, Facebook Messages, tweets and so on.

As for the minuses, it is hard to deny some. The first one concerns recording activity data. The watch can show distance as zero, even though you have already moved ahead, which can be really frustrating.

The question of comfort can cause doubts too as far as the watch is not the most comfortable one to wear, especially when you’re on a run.

Android users on non-Samsung phones can encounter the following problem: when you add more apps, the Galaxy app store opens up in browser mode. It would be fine except for the fact that it is all in Hindi.  Apparently, Samsung sticks with one language per country for the Galaxy Store on the browser, and you can’t change it.

In the conclusion, we admit that Samsung Gear S3 has a lot of features going for it. The watch has more functionality, fitness bit works well and the variety of options in this category will definitely appeal to most people. If you are looking for a smartwatch, Samsung Gear S3 is worth testing especially from a fitness perspective. However, there are some minuses with the battery still being a pain point.
