First Full Trailer for ‘The Fate of the Furious’ Is Finally Released

We already know many, still not all, insane things that will be going on in the movie.

After a glimpse at a 2.5-minute “series retrospective” video and a trailer teaser (“tweaser”) late last week, we can finally get more details in an actual theatrical trailer for the eighth film in the Fast/Furious franchise. The film titled Fate of the Furious is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, The Italian Job) and opens April 14th.

Perhaps, you will hardly find a person who still remembers that Fast and the Furious series as only about street racing. The movie has become some kind of smack talking, super spy action spectacular involving Gatling guns and exploding ice sheets.

Independent enumerates a non-exhaustive list of insane things that are expected to be going on in the movie:

– Ludacris wipes out at least 5 pursuing cars with a pre-planned wrecking ball deployment

– Vin Diesel turns bad and it’s entirely possible he’s been switched out for a robot by a cyber terrorist

– Dom (Diesel) escapes police by driving onto a plane

– The Rock stages a jail break whilst trash talking

– Ludacris gets a tank

– There is an arctic chase involving ski-doos, armoured vehicles, an orange Lamborghini and, get this, a submarine. Too fast too amphibious!

– Charlize Theron is in the movie and teams corn rows with a suit

Indeed, Charlize Theron makes her debut as the villainous Cipher. And of course, we will enjoy the actors we’ve got used to, including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham, Elsa Pataky, and Nathalie Emmanuel.

The official synopsis from Universal says:

“Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.”

Thus, producers will make Dom going rogue for unknown reasons and his old crew having to bring him down as the “hook”. The help will come in the form … well, watch the trailer.
