Kanye West has unexpectedly cancelled remaining shows of his national tour. The reason is that the performer is undergoing medical treatment at a Los Angeles area hospital.
NBC News refers to an unknown source stating that Los Angeles police responded to a medical welfare call about 1:20 p.m. (4:20 p.m. ET). West insisted on the hospitalization of his own free will for his own health and safety. No criminal activity was spotted.
Kanye West has always been known for his provocative behavior. The news about health problems again comes right after a week of bizarre incidents when the scandalous rapper publicly insulted fellow music stars Beyoncé and Jay Z and expressed his support to President-elect Donald Trump.
On Thursday, West was performing at a concert in San Jose, California. There, he publicly admitted that he had not voted in the 2016 presidential election but that he would have supported Trump if I voted. The statement of the provocative rapper was met with boos.
West went on saying that he is “glad Trump inspired racists to reveal themselves”. He marked that he is still planning to run for president in 2020.
Trump knows that Kanye supports him as he said last year: “I’ll never say bad about him, because he loves Trump. He goes around saying Trump is my all-time hero. He says it to everybody. So Kanye West, I love him.”
As if it was not enough, West lashed out against everyone from Beyoncé to Mark Zuckerberg, saying he was “on my Trump sh-t tonight” at another concert in Sacramento, California, just two days after the San Jose show. He performed just two songs and left abruptly after 30 minutes.
The actions resulted in a new hashtag #KanyeIsOverParty gaining popularity on Twitter.

Looking back on earlier quirks of Kanye West, let’s at least remember how he leapt onstage to interrupt Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards, insisting that she does not deserve the award. Last year, he declared that he would run for president in 2020. Thus, it is quite normal for West to appear in hot water for combative, self-aggrandizing behavior.
West was to perform Sunday night at Los Angeles’ Forum – itself a makeup show after vocal problems forced the rapper to cut a previous Forum gig short. The announcement about concert cancellation came at the last minute Sunday. West flooded his Instagram with exactly 99 caption-less photos of Margiela fashion spreads after the concert was canceled.
