Do you think you have seen all possible kinds of hotels – under water or on the tree? We hasten to let you know that there is one unusual hotel in Switzerland that will amaze even an experienced traveler.
There has been a tendency recently that people all over the world share secrets how to travel with minimum expenses. Switzerland, not the cheapest country to visit, cares of those who don’t want to stay at luxurious hotels or simply got tired of habitual ones. Now, tourists can enjoy an amazing room that looks like a comfy double bed in the open air without any walls or roof. Nothing separates tourists from the breathtaking view of nature and sky.
The room was designed by conceptual artists Frank and Patrik Riklin and hospitality professional Daniel Charbonnier. The project comes from Null Stern Hotels with the tagline “the only star is you”.
Null Stern is known for its extraordinary ideas. In 2008, it created a hotel in a nuclear bunker in Switzerland. The tagline of that hotel sounded like “the first zero star hotel in the world”.
The unusual hotel room is located in the Swiss Alps and is available for rent for a cost of 250 Swiss Franc (230 Euro) per night. It’s managed by local residents and the guests will be welcomed by a group of “modern butlers”. The project is supported by the Alps Arts Academy and Safiental Tourism. The groups are planning to create more “rooms” through the Swiss countryside.
We forgot to mention – the room has a “surprise” for tourists. It does not come with a bathroom or a shower. You can just enjoy the world around without caring of blessings of civilization.
This year, Airbnb also launched an interesting project. It announced a contest with the main prize – a night in an underwater bedroom, where the only thing separating you from sharks is the 360-degree transparent wall.
“Ever gaze into an aquarium and wonder what it’s like to live under water? Imagine yourself submerged in three million liters, in an aquarium ten meters deep, alongside 35 of the most majestic creatures on Earth: sharks! Experience what it’s like, even for a night, to live amongst these feared creatures. This is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sleep in a underwater bedroom, where the only thing separating you from your neighbors is the 360-degree transparent wall.”
The participators were to present a personal story explaining why they wanted this amazing but still frightful experience. The judges took into account originality and creativity of the submitted story as well as the spirit of the submission. Airbnb promised winners a peaceful enclosure with a large cylindrical bed and breathtaking, immersive views of new sharp-toothed friends.
