A new Star Wars: Episode VII РThe Force Awakens teaser has been shared. The shot 10-second-long clip appeared on the official Star Wars Instagram account on Thursday afternoon.
“There has been an awakening, have you felt it?” a gravely voice wonders¬†in the preview, which received 57,000 ‘likes’ in its first hour.¬†The caption for the clip says: “There has been an awakening… #StarWars #TheForceAwakens.”
The new video was shared after the one that was released in South Korea on August 10 and also contained the image of the stormtroopers in phalanx formation.
It unveils to Star Wars fans unseen footage, including a terrifying army of Stormtroopers and Finn (John Boyega) facing off against Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). As with previous trailers, however, the clip contains little in the way of plot spoilers.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set 30 years after the events of 1983’s Return Of The Jedi.
Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker will appear in the new movie while the list of newcomers includes Daisy, John, Domhnall and Adam as well as Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, Crystal Clarke, Pip Anderson, Christina Chong and Miltos Yerolemou.
The cast of the upcoming film appeared¬†at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, on 16th of August when another trailer for the movie was shown.
The director and co-writer of The Force Awakens JJ Abrams explained at the time that Star Wars is about hope: it’s a saga that sees fighters rebelling against tyranny, Lords of the Sith finding redemption, and young farm boys looking up at the sky and dreaming of something more impressive.
Ford, meanwhile, was all smiles as he appeared onstage to a very long standing ovation from the fans.
“My goodness, thank you so much,” Ford told the crowd as they roared for him. “You guys have made my life.¬†I’m very happy, yesterday following in the footsteps of George Lucas, the author of the early chapters of my story.¬†It’s a great thrill to be with you, who made this whole thing happen.”
During the hour-long opening panel in Anaheim, the director¬†revealed that the planet all the events take place on is called Jakku, even though, previously, there’re rumors¬†that this planet is Tatooine.
The place is a new location in the Star Wars universe where Rey lives. Daisy Ridley, who was also present at the Star Wars Celebration, describes the location as a ‚Äúship‚Äôs graveyard‚ÄĚ, and says that her character is a ‚Äúself-sufficient‚ÄĚ scavenger.
JJ Abrams directs and the film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
Lucasfilm has already launched a massive promotional campaign for the upcoming movie cooperating with such popular brands including Covergirl, Duracell, General Mills, HP and Verizon.
