Legoland Hotel Opens in Winter Haven, Florida

On May 15, Legoland Florida became a resort destination opening a 152-room hotel made up of more than 2 million Lego bricks.

“The LEGOLAND Hotel is the ultimate LEGO experience — you’re basically immersed in a big box of LEGO,” that’s how Adrian Jones, the LEGOLAND Hotel’s general manager, defines the brand-new resort.

The official opening of the LEGOLAND Hotel took place on the 15th of May in Winter Haven, Florida. The multicoloured five-story hotel is situated about 100 steps from the entrance to the Legoland Florida theme park. According to WJCT News, it was designed specifically for children ages 2 to 12.

“It’s the first real child-friendly hotel — in my opinion — in Central Florida,”Adrian Jones said. Jones also added that before the opening on Friday, the hotel was already booked at almost half capacity throughout the rest of the year. “That gives me great confidence that we are going to be successful, but also that gives me great confidence in planning future things as well,” he said.

Governor Rick Scott celebrated the grand opening of the new LEGOLAND Hotel applauding in a press release:

“We are excited to celebrate the grand opening of the new LEGOLAND Hotel at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort today. Not only will this hotel encourage many more families to visit Florida, but it is also creating 150 new jobs for families in the Winter Haven area. Our tourism industry has provided more than one million Floridians with the opportunity to find a job and care for their families, and is keeping us on track to becoming the global destination for jobs.”

Mr. Jones states that the opening of the hotel will turn the theme park into a resort destination. In addition to that, vacations around the LEGOLAND Florida Resort can be planned in advance, instead of merely adding the park as part of another trip, he adds.

In the hotel lobby kids will find a pirate ship and a big castle to play with. Both of them are full of LEGO bricks. And nearby the check-in there is a massive pit full of LEGO bricks as well. Surely, it’ll become a great welcome distraction for children while their parents are busy taking care of the details before their stay.

Vacations at the LEGOLAND Hotel include breakfast at the Bricks Family Restaurant, early admission to the LEGOLAND Florida theme park and nightly children’s entertainment. Plus, the LEGOLAND Florida Resort is located about 45 minutes away from the Orlando theme parks.

Moreover, Legoland Florida Resort is going to open Heartlake City, a new themed land. It will include Mia’s Riding Adventure, a disk-coaster ride, a show dubbed “Friends to the Rescue,” and plenty of shops. The Lego Movie 4-D will also open at the park later.
