While Minaj is delivering one more monster guest verse on this feistier, more aggressive take on the Beyoncé track, the “I Was Here” singer takes a moment to get the final word in about the infamous fight between her husband and her sister: “Of course sometimes sh– go down when there’s a billion dollars on the elevator.”
Is that line is directed to Jay Z, Beyoncé and Solange? Does it even matter? While the original version of the song was a more inclusive anthem about self-acceptance, the two divas list luxuries and flip its “I woke up like this” hook to send an ever bolder message here: talk all you want, you’ll never wake up like them.
Last week a source familiar with the matter revealed to reporters that Solange’s elevator behaviour came after she concluded the rapper was planning to meet Rihanna later at a club without wife Beyonce. ‘Solange was like, “Enough is enough – you must be [screwing] Rihanna,”‘ the insider said, adding: “To many people who know them, they know it’s not out of the realm of possibility.”
Rihanna and Beyonce have been always considered as rivals, with the ‘I Was Here’ singer giving a somewhat cryptic response when asked about the Barbados-born star back in 2011.
“There is room on this earth for many queens. I have an authentic, God-given talent, drive, and longevity that will always separate me from everyone else,” she told reporters once.
“I’ve been fortunate to accomplish things that the younger generation of queens dream of accomplishing. I have no desire for anyone else’s throne. I am very comfortable in the throne I’ve been building for the past 15 years.”
Meanwhile, another source revealed to the media that it is not a matter of if but how Beyonce and Jay Z will split. Currently the only time they spend together is on their joint On The Run tour where the newspaper alleges they are travelling with marriage counsellors.
By the way, the r’n’b queen is currently thinking over the possibility to acquire at a $21.5 million Chelsea penthouse. “She was very quiet, as if she was looking on the sly,” an insider said.
Fueling the notion that Beyoncé is not shopping for both of them is the fact that Jay Z has always been extremely involved in their real estate deals, sources said, adding that Jay didn’t appear at the shopping.
Beyonce’s unfaithful pair also would be loath to leave their current posh Tribeca pad.
Noting that the couple’s 8,309-square-foot Tribeca crib is more than twice the size of the 4,045-square-foot West 19th Street pad Bey was looking at, the source added, “I can say with certainty that Jay is not downsizing.”
There’re also some speculations that the new home is for Beyoncé and their 2-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. “There’s no way a $20 million apartment is for her mother or her sister. That would be wildly unlikely,’’ the source said.
