Brad Pitt Attacked on Red Carpet While Attending ‘Maleficent’ Premiere [Video]

Angelina Jolie’s husband was attacked straight on red carpet while attending ‘Malefient’ debut.

An infamous red carpet prankster punched Brad Pitt in the face as the actor was giving out autographs at “Maleficent” premiere, a move which features his wife Angelina Jolie on Wednesday, police reports.

Pitt, a Golden Globe-winning actor, was attending the premiere of the highly expected movie, at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, California, when Vitalii Sediuk leaped over a fence and hit him, said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Gus Villanueva.

The actor was not seriously hurt and authorities quickly captured the prankster, who was arrested for misdemeanor battery and remained in police custody on Wednesday night, Villanueva reported. The man is now being held pending payment of $20,000 bail.

“The officers who were handling him said it looked like it was intentional, but at this point, it remains to be determined,” said Sergeant Leonard Calderon for LAPD Hollywood.

Vitalii Sediuk, 25, is a Ukrainian television reporter who regularly makes fun of the Hollywood star straight at red carpet events.

In previous exploits, thepranksters has hugged actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s crotch at a Santa Barbara Film Festival event, stormed the stage during singer Adele’s Grammy acceptance speech, and been slapped by Will Smith after kissing the actor at a Moscow premiere.

Local police department which arrested the Ukranian, laimed that the suspect was not armed at the time of the attack on Jolie’s husband, and investigators have not yet determined a motive.

“Maleficent” is Disney’s modern reimagining of the “Sleeping Beauty” fairytale, and Jolie stars as its villain.

The movie is the first one for its director, Robert Stromberg, a two-time Oscar winner as an art director.

As for the actress, she’s offered her own rationale for playing the character: “Since I was a little girl, Maleficent was always my favorite,” Jolie revealed at the D23 promotional event this past summer.

“I was terrified of her, but I was also drawn to her. I wanted to know more about her. She had this elegance and grace, yet she was wonderfully, deliciously cruel.”

The movie cast also includes new Peter Capaldi, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Sam Riley, Brenton Thwaites, Sharlto Copley and Jolie’s five-year-old daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, who will debut in the industry as the young Princess Aurora.

Disney’s official synopsis reads: “Maleficent is the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty.”

“A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal – an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone.”

”Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realises that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom – and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.”
