The new single from from the King of Pop arrived, featuring the reigning prince of pop, Justin Timberlake.
The single, “Love Never Felt So Good”, which is included into XCAPE album, debuted Thursday night at the iHeartRadio awards. The song uses material from 1983 â the year after “Thriller” was released.
Michael’s friend and Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid introduced the single at the awards, saying, “When I first went into Michael’s archives and heard the in-the-raw version of the song you’re about to hear, I was instantly reminded that, yes, Michael Jackson is the greatest.”
Reid has teamed up with other talented producers to âcontemporiseâ songs of the King of Pop â who died in June 2009 at the age of 50 â as part of a new record which will be released on May 13.
The music mogul and the executive producer the record, revealed to the media back in March: âModern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world.â
He went on, adding: âMichael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.â
By the way, Timbaland is the leading producer on the highly expected album, while Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome âJrocâ Harmon and John McClain also produce the record.
John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson said: âMichael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision.â
The name of the record is a nod to the late singerâs favoured naming process of picking one of his songs to name his record after. The song XSCAPE was written by the King of Pop himself and Jerkins, and was produced by Jackson and Jerkins.
Kazuo Hirai, President and CEO, Sony Corporation, told the media representatives that the organisation is âthrilled and privilegedâ to be working on a new part of Michaelâs legacy.
He said: âMichael has long been a treasured member of the larger Sony family. Starting with the release of âOff The Wallâ in 1979, Sony Music Entertainment has since released all of Michaelâs recordings.â
âWe are thrilled and privileged to be collaborating as One Sony to celebrate Michaelâs latest legacy, and bringing his fans an exclusive experience through our upcoming initiatives with our products and services.â
A Deluxe Edition of the record will also see the world and will include all of the sourced Michael Jackson recordings in their original form.
The XSCAPE standard and Deluxe Editionâs is available for pre-order beginning April 1 on iTunes.com/MichaelJackson and elsewhere, and available at all retailers worldwide on May 13.
