Add Storage and Battery Capacity to Your iPhone 5/5s with New Mophie Space Pack

Mophie has expanded its Juice Pack line of battery cases by officially announcing the Mophie Space Pack.

Probably all iPhone users have faced one in a while two main problems – the constant desire for longer battery life and more storage space. The new Mophie Space Pack, first introduced at CES in January, solves those two complications by not only doubling the battery life of the users’ iPhone 5 or 5S, but also increasing device’s storage capacity at the same time.

The Space Pack feels familiar because of the Mophie’s existing Juice Pack line, with the only difference being an aluminum knob taking the place of the plastic one on the bottom of the Space Pack’s rear.

The white version of the Space Pack has a shiny plastic finish, while the black variation has a cozy soft-touch feel. The back of the case has a switch for activating the charging function, with four LED indicators that show how much juice the charger has left.

Just like the existing Juice Pack models, features an integrated 1700 mAh battery that doubles the battery life of an attached iPhone 5 or iPhone 5s. In addition, it also features either 16GB or 32GB of storage onboard.

Mophie states that the 32GB capacity allows you to store 16,000 + photos, 14+ hours of video, or 9,000+ songs. The battery can provide up to 8 hours of talk time, 10 hours of video playback, and 40 hours of music playback.

Given Apple’s refusal to provide a microSD slot for storage expansion on its iPhone models, the Space Pack offers a relatively elegant solution for users that need to add more space (and battery life).

It’s extremely easy to get files onto the Space Pack, as it works like a regular USB flash drive or hard drive. The Space Pack charges via Micro-USB, so after the cable id plugged into PC, a use can drag and drop files into a folders.

The Space Pack can accommodate any file type, while the appropriately named “Space” app can directly access and play movies, music, and pictures. The Space App automatically organizes files into Photos, Videos, Music, Documents, and “other files.”

Daniel Huang, co-founder of Santa Ana, California-based Mophie, said he wanted to design a product “that enables iPhone users to truly enhance their experience by solving some of the core limitations of smartphones.”

He added, “With an iPhone case that provides the charging solution and low-profile protective design expected from Mophie, we’ve taken the next step and developed an entirely new category, pushing the increasing trend toward mobile computing even further.”

The Space Pack seems like a great step up from a regular battery case without making the iDevice look bulky.

The Mophie Space Pack, which is only available for preorder for iPhone 5 and 5s, starts shipping March 14. It will cost $150 for a 16GB case, and $180 for a 32GB case. That’s quite a premium for an iPhone case, but it’s not hard to justify when you’re getting a portable charger, a protective shell, and an external hard drive that’s unlike any we’ve seen for Apple’s smartphone.
