An alleged leaked image of the Samsung Galaxy S5 retail box packing has been spotted on the Internet, days before the expected launch of the smartphone.

The Dutch website SamsungGalaxyS5.nl received an image from an anonymous source, where the back of the box from the unannounced Samsung Galaxy S5 is shown.

Listed specs feature a 2.5GHz quad-core chip, 3GB of RAM, and a 5.25-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display. Other features include a 20-megapixel camera with rear camera with a 2-megapixel front shooter and 1080p video playback and recording, as well as 3000mAh battery and the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

The inclusion of 1080p video recording would come as a surprise, considering the Galaxy Note 3 can shoot footage in 4K.There is no mention of the smartphone’s body, which is rumored to come in both a metal and plastic option.

The Galaxy S5 has been spotted twice on the AnTuTu benchmark database, seemingly confirming previous rumors that the smartphone would feature a plastic option and the long-desired metal variant.

The smartphones were leaked with the codenames SM-G900H and SM-G900R4, which experts allege is the upcoming Samsung device. Offering two S5 models would give the tech giant two attractive new releases at different price segments, similarly to what competitor Apple attempted to do with the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

Previous rumored specifications of the Galaxy S5 included a 5.24-inch AMOLED screen with a QHD resolution; two storage variants – 32GB and 64GB; two processor variants – Exynos 6 and Snapdragon 805, and a 3200mAh battery. The optics rumoured for the Galaxy S5 included a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a 3.2-megapixel front-facing shooter.

If this leak is legitimate, it is possible to assume that it refers to the top-end edition of the Android and Samsung flagship, anyway we have to wait for the Unpacked 5 event at the start of the MWC to know for sure.

The smartphone maker previously unveiled Mini, Active and Zoom models to accompany the Galaxy S4, giving consumers a wide variety of selections, reports Design & Trends.

Samsung has not yet revealed its highly anticipated Galaxy S5 but has teased with a sneak peak at new app icons that could roll out with the device.

Samsung’s latest event teaser for its press event at Mobile World Congress suggests what the company’s new app launcher may look like. Each symbol has a superscript 5 after it, hinting at a Galaxy S5 connection. The app icons differ from the Samsung’s current smartphones in a flatter, yet more colorful.

The teaser image also listed some features namely: Speed, which seems like a reference to the upgraded processor; Outdoor, which we assume is for the upgraded battery capacity in the Galaxy S5; Fun, Style and Social, which point to some new apps in the device; Privacy, points to the upgraded Knox security software expected to be preloaded on the Galaxy S5, and Fitness, which can be expected to point to new health related apps.
