The Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks will meet in Super Bowl XLVII at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey after winning their respective conference championships on Sunday.

Manning and the Broncos dispatched the New England Patriots 26-16 in the AFC Championship Game in Denver. In the NFC title tilt, the Seattle Seahawks outlasted the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 in a back-and-forth battle that came down to the final minute.

It will be Denver’s seventh trip to the Super Bowl but the first since the Broncos’ only wins in 1998 and 1999, and the second visit for the Seahawks, who lost to Pittsburgh in 2006.

“It’s an exciting feeling (to get back to the Super Bowl),” said Manning. “You take a moment to realize we have done something special here and certainly want to win one more.

“You have to take time to savor the moment. Being in my 16th season and going to my third Super Bowl I know how hard it is to get there. It is extremely difficult.”

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will arrive at MetLife Stadium with a slightly different perspective. In just his second season out of Wisconsin, Wilson has piloted the Seahawks to their second Super Bowl berth in franchise history.

“It’s quite a magical moment,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters after his team’s thrilling win. “You can’t quite grasp the reality of it. Is this really happening? Did we really do this? You know? It’s very, very special.

“I know for the young guys, too. From the young guys to the old guys, too, we all got to share in that. It was very special. It’s a big moment for everybody. I think everybody sees it differently but it just was very magical to know, OK, we’re going.”

As the Daily Mail informs, many fans have taken to calling the match up the Marijuana Bowl’ since both teams hail from the two states to first legalize marijuana for recreational use. Many have lobbied the NFL to allow players to smoke the plant since it is thought to have less addictive pain killing abilities that traditional pain killers.

Commissioner Roger Goodell told ESPN Jan 7 that he would be open players using medical marijuana where it is legal – it is currently still banned by the NFL.

The game will be played in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium, where Eli Manning’s New York Giants play their home games. The NFL championship spectacle at East Rutherford, New Jersey, will be the first in Super Bowl history staged outdoors in a cold-climate city.

The weather forecast is for the coldest conditions in Super Bowl history with a chance of rain or snow showers and temperatures between 37 and 25 degrees Fahrenheit (3 to minus 4 Celsius), says the Telegraph.

The Seahawks were initially installed by Las Vegas sports books as 1- to 2-point favorites over the Broncos, reported the Las Vegas Sun, but it only took 15 minutes for early bettors to show a strong preference for the Broncos.
