Here’s How to Propose When Your Girlfriend is Expecting It [Video]

A man surprised his girlfriend by faking the proposal three times in one night.

What do you do when your girlfriend finds out you’re planning to propose and the whole surprise is ruined? In most cases, you’d likely just stick to the plan and hope it still comes off as romantic and memorable as you had hoped it would be.

So our hero, the 33-year-old Jordan Halland whose 25-year-old girlfriend Summer Jones found out about his intention to propose has come up with a bizarre and slightly cruel way to kept his eager partner waiting for that special moment after faking a wedding proposal three times in one night.

YouTube user HeyPayola called in some friends, who are professional videographers, to secretly record the build-up to the big moment in the video titled “Proposing to Summer (in three parts).”

As he does, text on the screen explains, “Summer found out that I was going to propose tonight… So I decided to scrap my original plan. And at the last minute give her a night of surprises. You are about to watch the first one.”

When she is finally ready, he holds her hand poignantly and says “Right here, on our first date, we sat and talked until 7 in the morning.”

The ‘night of surprises’ includes visiting the restaurant where they had their first date.

“We set up hidden cameras in the restaurant where we went on our first date,” Halland said. He stood up to make a seemingly romantic announcement-only to tell the entire restaurant that the couple loved sushi. Jones playfully swatted at Halland as a result.

The couple then walk to get coffee but the store is closed so they head to a park where a band is playing what seems to be their favorite love song. Clearly, Summer believes the jokes are over and the proposal is imminent as she tears up.

“Then I called a bunch of Summer’s friends from high school and had them learn a special song for us and play it in a nearby park after dinner,” Halland recounted.

The woman, clearly giddy, holds onto her boyfriend tight and asks “what was that?” before the prankster replied “Nothing. Just walking. I don’t know what that was!”

“I thought he was just kind of giving me a hard time, and then I saw the cameras at the park, and I thought he was going to propose for sure. But then he didn’t, and I was like okay, what’s happening right now?” Jones confessed.

The couple continued the evening by walking to the end of a long dock, the last destination in the video. Halland finally got down on one knee for real, telling Jones, “I love you so much, Summer, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”

Jones immediately agreed. “It was wonderful. It was such a beautiful moment and I think that even though the cameras were there, it was still like it was just me and him,” Jones said. “It was really special.”
