There’s a new Snoopy in town, and this one spends most of his time in front of the camera, not on a dog house, lecturing Charlie Brown. Snoopy the cat is the newest cutie taking over Instagram. This cartoon-like cat is being shared everywhere by online animal lovers.

So, please, meet another feline Internet star called Snoopybabe – or Snoopy for short. Snoopy, an exotic short-hair cat, is already a huge hit in his native China and this year has taken the rest of the world by storm.

The adorable creature comes to our screens from a Chinese town Chengdu, Sichuan Province, and it’s simply impossible to get enough of his bug-eyed expressions, elegant ringed tail. Plus, imagine how soft that beautiful white coat is.

The whimsical cat has captured the attention of hundreds of thousands, with some describing it as adorable. Others say the cat looks somewhat creepy.

He already has more than 275,000 followers on Weibo – China’s version of Twitter – and a further 190,000 on Instagram.  The cute white cat with brown years and shot fur has a Facebook page too where pictures of him are shared doing cute things like sleeping, wearing a necklace, staring at the camera, etc.

The 2-year-old’s owner, who goes by Miss Ning, told the Chinese website, A Pet Guide, that his best feature is his “pie-face.”  She also told the web site  that “his droopy eyes make him appear innocent all the time.”

She says he gets his good looks from his parents – one of whom was an American short-hair and the other Persian. However she says she has been surprised by the reaction to photographs of her pet and admits she ‘did not expect a lot of people’ to comment or forward it on, reports the Daily Mail.

On its Instagram account, numerous users from around the world fawned over the pet, posting comments in English, Chinese, Filipino, and other languages.

“I want a snoopybabe,” wrote one. “I saw him on weibo before. He’s so qute,” said another.

The animal though given his burgeoning popularity he may soon find himself jetting off to the annual Internet Cat Video Festival, held this year in the US state of Minnesota.

The growth in Snoopy’s popularity will be seen as a threat to established feline internet stars Maru and Grumpy Cat Tardar Sauce.

Grumpy Cat is so popular she was chosen as ‘spokescat’ for a Friskies brand of cat food, it was announced this month. The frown-faced internet sensation is among the biggest stars of the peculiar trend of cat dominance on web videos and postings.

On the other hand, Maru’s crazy antics that were caught on video have already been viewed a million times. For a time, Maru was even hailed as the Internet’s most famous feline.

Indeed, there seems to be an odd trend of cats being used as subjects in various Internet postings and web videos nowadays.
