Apple’s Upcoming iPad 5 Leaked Online [Video]

The new iPad 5 rumours are going round more often, with recent leak suggesting the possible colors of upcoming fifth-generation iPad.

The Cupertino-based firm is expected to release the iPad 5 in the next few weeks as leaked images and video of the purported tablet surfaced online.

The iPad 5 photos were posted Wednesday by Sonny Dickson, , a now notable online source for Apple leaks. According to the pictures the next iPad models may be in grey and silver colors.

“‘We’ve already seen numerous leaks of various next-gen iPad hardware, but until now, we haven’t gotten a serious look at the new colour options for the upcoming iPad 5,” he explained.

In a new video, Chinese parts supplier goes hands-on with a purported iPad 5 unit, and investigates how the fifth-generation 9.7-inch tablet measures up against both the iPad 4 and iPad mini.

In the video Apple’s iPad 5 is measured against both an iPad 4 and iPad mini. As you can see, in terms of both height and width, the fifth-generation iPad is narrower than its fourth-generation counterpart, resulting in an overall smaller surface area.

According to earlier reports, the upcoming iPad 5 is expected to feature the same 9.7-inch screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The device is also likely to be lighter and thinner like the iPad mini, incorporating touch sensors with a thin film instead of glass, used in existing iPads.

There are also speculations over a bigger iPad. South Korean site ETNews reported in May that Apple could introduce a 12.9-inch iPad in early 2014, which could be named the “iPad Max.” In July, the Wall Street Journal also reported that Apple has recently asked its suppliers for screen designs, measuring slightly less than 13 inches, for a new iPad model.

Additionally, the iPad 5 could get the same Touch ID fingerprint sensor as the iPhone 5s, which would mean you’ll be able to unlock the iPad using the new technology and without entering any passcodes

New iPads of some kind – potentially the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 – could well get a mention on 15 October, although that’s yet to be confirmed by Apple; it would certainly make sense for the iPad 5 to be launched in time for the Christmas rush, if Apple is planning to refresh its full-size iPad line in the near future, believes MacWorld.

Apple itself has typically kept quiet about any developments on the iPad front, but it’ expected that rumors about the upcoming  iPad 5, as well as the new iPad 5 release date may intensify over the next few months.

Taiwan-based research firm TrendForce thinks that a completely redesigned iPad 5 will launch in the third quarter of 2013, reigniting consumer interest in Apple’s 10-inch tablet.

However, according to some analysts, the increasing popularity of tablets among consumers could also negatively impact Apple’s MacBook sales, which may force the company to consider a wider range of iPad offerings, Apple Insider reported.

On the smartphone front, the iPhone 5S and 5C have racked up record sales, with over 9million sold in their first weekend of hitting the shops.
