Lovebirds John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have finally tied the knot! The 34-year-old singer and the 27-year-old model got married in an intimate ceremony at a lavish estate in Lake Como on Saturday
The Sports Illustrated beauty gave no indication she was about to say ‘I do’ when she attended shows at New York Fashion Week on Thursday, but she revealed she had purchased three Vera Wang wedding gowns for her special day.
“Every time I went in [to Vera Wang] for a fitting, I couldn’t stop getting one,” she told E!s Giuliana Rancic. “It’s just too pretty.”
So the model bride wore her first strapless ivory Vera Wang gown with an open back, lifted tulle skirt and hand-cut petal embroidered details, which she described as “kind of [having] a sexier feel at the top, like a swimsuit, so I have to get my body ready. I have to buckle down.”
Teigen changed into another strapless ivory Vera Wang dress for the reception – the design featured a micro-pleated bodice and sheared organza full skirt.
And at the after-party she had a third Vera Wang design of the night – a crimson strapless mermaid gown with a hand-draped bodice, inverted flange skirt and embroidered crystal wheat detail, reports the People magazine.
A source previously revealed that they chose the scenic location for their wedding because ‘that’s where they fell in love.’
Mr. and Mrs. Legend were feted by family and friends, including Kanye West and Stevie Wonder. The “Isn’t She Lovely” singer also performed with Legend as a special treat.
Actress and model Brooklyn Decker took on the role as maid of honor and Biz Markie helped DJ the celebration. Teigen’s other close friend and bridesmaid, sports journalist Erin Andrews, was unfortunately unable to take off work to attend, reports US Magazine.
The moment had arrived as the bridesmaids were ushered to the ceremony in the same golf cart that had chauffeured guests to the lakeside site.
Attendants helped the bride up the steps to the balcony where her groom John awaited, looking handsome in a black tux and bow tie.
The insider said that the couple’s guests would be staying in a hotel in the region for about four or five days for the celebration.
Legend and his model wife—who’ve been dating since 2007—got engaged in December 2011 when the Grammy winner popped the question during their holiday vacation in the Maldives.
She said: “I’m excited. I can’t wait for the ceremony. [John] and I have been working and travelling so much that we just let our wedding planner do everything. We’re not neurotic about it. I just want to finally see all of my friends in one area.”
Earlier this year, Teigen, 27, told People her Grammy-winning groom, 34, would perform his new song “All of Me” at the wedding, which was written for her.
“He writes a lot of love songs, but this one is specifically about me so it makes it more special,” Teigen told PEOPLE in May. “My Dad even cries when I play it for him in the car.”
