The actress was spotted wearing an Art Deco diamond ring this week in Venice, Italy. Johansson attended the festival to promote her new sci-fi movie “Under the Skin“.
Sarletts’ representative confirmed the happy news, but did not unveil when the wedding will take place, saying: “They haven’t chosen a date for the wedding,” she said.
“They’re engaged and very happy,” a source told reporters, adding that the engagement took place about a month ago.
A few months ago, the former editor of the French magazine Clark and the beauty made engagement headlines when Johansson was spotted wearing a sparkler on her left hand. However, the rumors quickly stopped after her representative said that Scarlett was “not engaged or close to being engaged.”
This will be the second marriage for the actress, who was married to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011.
“I got married when I was young and it was incredibly romantic and I liked being married, actually,” Johansson said last year. “But it is different. It’s hard to put into words. To me, being in a functioning relationship doesn’t mean you have to be married.”
“I never think about marriage. Is that weird? The only time I ever think about it is when people ask me, ‘Would I get married again?'” she continued, in the 2012 interview.
“It’s really not important to me. It has no relevance to me right now. … I’m not having kids anytime soon, I’m in a nice relationship, I’m working a lot, and, like I said, it’s not important to me.”
She also opened up that her divorce with Reynolds was ‘comicaly amicable”: “Of course it’s horrible,” she told the magazine. “It was devastating. It really throws you. You think that your life is going to be one way, and then, for various reasons or whatever, it doesn’t work out.”
However, her ex-husband had been alone for a long time as last summer he tied the knot with Blake Lively.
The couple married at the Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, just outside of Charleston, MTV reported.
The reception was held in a white tent at the plantation, in front of family and closest friends only, but also some Hollywood types, including Blake’s manager.
Florence Welch (lead singer of Florence + the Machine), a good friend of the Gossip Girl actress, performed three songs live, and there was also a deejay who spun tunes.
Manhattan jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz allegedly designed the couple’s wedding rings. And it’s also confirmed that a cake was being driven down from Virginia for the event.
The ceremony was supposed to be a secret one, but a local radio station tweeted the news Sunday evening: “Hold up, there’s another story that it’s Ryan Reynolds and he married Blake Lively at the Cotton Docks today!”
The two, who met filming together in 2011′s Green Lantern, kept their relationship in secret, though Lively, 25, told Marie Claire last summer, “It’s definitely attractive when a man can dress well.”
