According to the claims of the media, police officers were responding to reports of a disorderly person, and when they arrived at the 27-year-old’s West 47th Street apartment, the troubled actress allegedly threw a bong out the window.
Bynes was booked for criminal possession of marijuana, as well as reckless endangerment and felony tampering with physical evidence, writes Radar Online.
Some sources revealed to reporters that police were called because Bynes was showing signs of disturbing behavior, including talking to herself.
Amanda, who was wearing a platinum blonde wig, was placed under arrest and went ballistic, yelling, “Don’t you know who I am?”
The star was taken to Roosevelt Hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, before being moved to a Midtown police station.
This is not the first time the former actress demonstrates erratic behavior. Over the past year she made headlines due to a series of car accidents and DUI arrests.
The star moved from Los Angeles to New York about half a year ago, and while the move has kept her off the road, it hasn’t kept her out of trouble, The Huffington Post reports.
Over the past few months, Amanda was kicked out of several gyms for strange and inappropriate behavior and most recently for allegedly smoking pot in the women’s locker room.
Throughout all of this, numerous sources revealed that Bynes’ family is very worried about the star’s well-being, but have had no power to do anything since she’s an adult, and there is little they can legally do to ensure she seeks help.
Previous reports claimed that Bynes’ parents are “very upset” over comments reality star Kim Kardashian made during her takeover of “Chelsea Lately” on April 8.
While discussing the New York Post’s report that the actress had been kicked out of an adult gymnastics class after she showed up wearing fishnets and a leotard that looked like lingerie, Kardashian offered positive comments about the former Nickelodeon star:
“Am I the only one who is obsessed with her new makeover? I think she looks amazing with the blonde hair and those nails,” she said, and her sister Khloe agreed, adding:
“I love to wear fishnets to the gym. I don’t think that’s abnormal,” while Kourtney added that she also liked Bynes’ new look.
The parents of the actress thought Kim’s remarks were made in “poor taste and are very upset about it,” as “it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to look at Amanda and surmise that she is having some sort of crisis.”
Soon after their comments Bynes took to Twitter to upload her own: “I don’t speak to my parents anymore, they don’t talk to reporters on my behalf. Don’t believe anything you read about me unless I tweet it.”
The She’s The Man star has been spending plenty of time in hair salons ever since, and a stylist whom she saw in Queens, told reporters that the actress was “definitely on something.”
