Christy Turlington, who is often titled as the ‘ultimate supermodel’ with her otherworldly good looks, seems to feel great with growing older – in fact, she relishes it.
The 44-year-old confessed she ‘can’t wait to be 50’ in the June/July issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, in which she looks as young and full of life as ever in lingerie and other skin-revealing attire.
In an interview with the magazine the yogi fan revealed that she will never have surgery, describing the procedures as ‘getting freakier.’
“Maybe there will be a time when you’re an oddball because you’re the only one left,’ she said. ‘I’d rather be the only one, the sole survivor. Â And in that case? I’ll just wear turtlenecks all year-round,” she added.
The beauty looks as gorgeous as ever in the photo spread. In one picture, Christy is wearing just a lacy camisole as she stares intently at the camera with her signature pout, The Daily Mail writes.
Of the photo shoot, the mother of two said ‘[Photographer] Dan [Jackson] said to me, “When you smile you look like you’re 16.” And I’m like, “Yeah—and then there’s my neck.”‘
The supermodel also commented on the recent controversy when Kate Moss criticised her for wearing a twinset, saying at the time: ‘The last time I saw Christy, she was wearing a twinset. You can think twinset, but you can’t wear one.”
However, Turlington seems not to be offended: “Oh, I thought it was funny! Kate’s one of the funniest people I know. And it’s true—I’ve never been afraid of a twinset. I think she’s talking about when we went to South Africa for this Nelson Mandela charity fashion show. Excuse me, what are you gonna wear, Versace?”
She went on, adding: “Next time I see Kate, I’m totally wearing one”
Christy, who is considered to be among the greatest model such as Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer, said she still sees some of the ‘girls’ on occasion.
“I don’t see everyone very often, but we do exchange Christmas cards. I’ve had lunch with Cindy. And Naomi I see periodically. She’s really good—she’ll remember a birthday. I’m horrible.”
After 25 years of incredibly successful career and work for world-known brands such as Calvin Klein, Christy will once again front a Calvin Klein Underwear campaign. However, she admitted she felt a bit ambivalent about it.
“You know, I’m 44 years old, I’m not 14. I’m healthy, I haven’t done anything to myself, I exercise. But I’m not entirely comfortable with myself in underwear either!”
“I love Calvin. He was a huge part of my career. He’d just married Kelly, and it was this whole new era. He told me when he asked me to do the campaign, “If I weren’t married already, I would have asked you!”‘ she recalled.
The humanitarian has recently announced her partnership with the Esprit brand to create a limited edition ‘Count Me In!’ T-shirt with proceeds going to her charity.
“In 2010 I decided that I wanted to create a campaign, an effort to help educate people about maternal deaths,” she said in a statement at the time. “The Count Me In T-shirt means that you care. I think we can make our voices heard in a more powerful way.”
