This iOS 7 Concept is What Apple Should Do, But Won’t [Video]

With iOS 6 having failed, in the opinion of many, to bring any dramatic improvements on iOS 5, the concepts and ideas for iOS 7 have been arriving thick and fast. This video is one of the best iOS 7 concepts yet.

A new iOS 7 concept video made by  Rafael Justino features a few interesting elements including pull down icon menus and status bar toggles/shortcuts.

In a set of iOS 7 concept photos and the iOS 7 concept video, Agente Apple shows off a new look for iOS that adds in many popular Android features like widgets and an enhanced Notification Center and lock screen.

The new concept video focuses less on new features more on exploring and infusing animation, emotion, and personality into the new OS and iPhone 5S.

It shows one take on a Jonny Ive inspired iOS with a new look, new features and customizations cool enough to convince many users there is no need for a jailbreak.

Still the latest Rafael Justino’s video is rather simlpe: it imagines a revamped compass, address book, calculator and several other small aspects within iOS, but then shows off a part of the notification shade with widgets.

The Clock and Voice Memo app are still noticeably grounded in skeuomorphic design, and the Calculator app looks like a downgrade, but Justino’s ideas for the Contacts app are pretty interesting.

The lock screen is also revamped with quick access to such features as Wi-Fi, Airplane Mode, Do Not Disturb and Location controls. There’s also fast access to the camera, the browser, text messaging and your phone dialer on the lock screen.

The most interesting concept is Justino’s lock screen customizations. Justino hopes Apple will give users the ability to completely customize every element of the lockscreen, right down to the color of the “Slide to Unlock” arrow, and the opacity of UI.

Finally there might appeare widgets. Even though it is just a concept, but it is possible that Apple might implement them into iOS should it decide to do so.

There’s a Flipboard widget for quickly browsing news headlines, one for the weather, another for music and even one for managing several for system controls, such as Wi-Fi or the screen brightness.

App Switcher Concept by someone called s3ntry93 is rather interesting, as it was actually turned into a working jailbreak tweak named Auxo. This isn’t the first time a hypothetical iOS concept became a jailbroken reality.

There have been cases where Apple hires a jailbreak developer and creates something like iOS 5 notifications, extending the community’s iOS innovations for those who have yet to take advantage of the jailbreak scene, says iDigitalTimes.

As MacRumors informs, designer F. Bianco has posted a set of images to Flickr with some interesting thoughts on what useful changes Apple could make to iOS 7 to improve the user experience.

Apple’s user interfaces will likely face new scrutiny now that Facebook has laid out a new vision for how phone users interact with their devices with Facebook Home.

It is expected that Apple will very likely unveil its revamped mobile operating system during its WWDC keynote on June 10.

With that WWDC announcement now done and dusted, it probably won’t be long before we see an iOS 7 beta, and although it mightn’t necessarily represent the final release, it will give us a strong indication as to the direction Apple is headed.
