Everyone has baggage from past relationships, but Playboy founder’s romantic history is much more ‘crowded’ than others.
In a new interview with Esquire magazine, the 86-year-old revealed that he slept with many, many women over the years. Too many to count, in fact.
“How could I possibly know? Over a thousand, I’m sure,” the mogul says of the number of ladies he’s taken to bed.
“There were chunks of my life when I was married, and when I was married I never cheated. But I made up for it when I wasn’t married. You have to keep your hand in.”
However, numerous beauties are in the past now thanks to Hefner’s relationship with wife Crystal Harris. Speaking about the 26-year-old, with whom he tied the knots in December, the modul gushes that he’s a happy, committed, one-woman man.
“All our friends think it’s made in heaven,” he tells Esquire of his third marriage. The Playboy founder was wed twice before, to Mildred Williams from 1949 to 1959, and to Kimberley Conrad from 1989 to 2010.
“It’s only people who don’t know us, who simply see us as stereotypes in terms of age and beauty,” he added of his marriage. “I just feel very, very fortunate to have found her at this stage in my life. I saved the best till last.”
The two first met in 2008 and got engaged in December 2010, but Harris’ cold feet postponed their June 2011 nuptials. The beauty even left the mansion briefly, The New York Daily News reports.
She did return but not before badmouthing Hef to Howard Stern and calling her future husband out on their sex life and his insecurities.
The publisher and his model bride got married in an intimate ceremony on New Year’s Eve at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles a few months ago.
“When the wedding didn’t work out the first time, it was because of me. I needed to explore out there and take the time away [from Hef and the Mansion]. The time away really helped make me realize that where I’m meant to be is here with Hef,” Harris told Us Weekly at the time.
“Our relationship is better than it ever has been before. I’m very happy and Hef’s very happy and we’re excited,” she added.
“He believes in love,” Harris told in an interview. “Hef loves me more than anybody else in a relationship ever has. It took me time away to realize that. I think I realized that here is where I’m meant to be.”
When his friends thought of protesting her return, Hef’s brother Keith took his side defending him and said, “Let him be happy.”
Meanwhile, Hefner is in love and marriage. He said: “I want the rest of my life to be very much like it is now. I want it to be like this.”
