The Carl’s Jr. and Hardees commercial stars Sports Illustrated model Nina Agdal, who replaces sexy blonde Kate Upton — who switched brands to star in a racy Mercedes-Benz Super Bowl teaser and celeb-studded commercial this year.
The ad shows the model tanning on the sandy beach and getting intimate with Carl’s Jr.’s new Atlantic Cod fish sandwich.
As Adrants write, the camera treats us to shots of Agdal’s luxurious curves before she sits down on her towel to eat the sandwich which sounds like “she’s biting into a styrafoam cup. Seriously”.
Then Nina removes her top while still eating the appetizing sandwich to multi-task a tan and feed herself all at once. She is then approached by a sunburned goober who utters, “Nice sandwich,” before the announcer says, you guessed it, “Sometimes you don’t want to get fried.”
When asked how she prepared for the big Carl’s Jr. photo shoot, she replied:Â “I actually had the flu before this shoot, so I didn’t really go to the gym. Instead I tried to stay away from carbs and ate more vegetables and lean protein.”
She went on, speaking about how she keeps her body in good shape: “I made sure to get waxed at European Wax Center before the shoot. Their comfort wax really makes the process less painful. I was so scared of waxing until I went there. I go at least two days before a big shoot to make sure my skin is silky and smooth. And, of course, a fresh mani-pedi.”
Nina also spoke about the shot itself: “Sunscreen was very important since we spent the whole day in the sun. They used Scott Barnes Body Bling to make my skin glow. I felt like a beach babe.”
She was also asked how much sandwiches she had had to eat that day: “I had some bites but had to spit some out, too. I think I went through around 50 sandwiches that day, if not more! But I still ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
The Charbroiled Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich features a charbroiled Atlantic cod fillet, creamy tartar sauce, sliced tomato and lettuce, all served on a honey wheat bun.
“For almost half-a-century, whenever fast food customers wanted to get a fish sandwich during Lent, they had one choice; fried,” said Brad Haley, chief marketing officer for Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s.
“With our new Charbroiled Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich, we’ve changed all that. For the first time in the industry, our guests can get a premium-quality fish sandwich that tastes great and is lower in calories because we charbroil it just like we do our burgers.”
Mr Haley added: “As we found when we introduced the first line of Charbroiled Turkey Burgers more than two years ago, people are ready for lighter fare as long as they don’t have to sacrifice flavor and the new Charbroiled Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich delivers both in a big way.”
