The Grammy-winner has posted a video on his website showing him walking into a studio.

The black and white film follows the star in one continuous shot as he walks into a recording studio, taking to the mic at the end and simply saying: ‘I’m ready.

On Thursday in his video Justin explained that he waited until he was inspired before taking to the studio to work on new material, but has yet to give a date for or any details of his new release.

It’s been more than six years since Timberlake released his last album, FutureSex/LoveSounds. The 2006 album spawned singles such as What Goes Around and Lovestoned with both songs winning the singer Grammy Awards.

The same year the former N*Sync singer took a well-deserved break from the music industry to tread the boards in Hollywood earning roles in Alpha Dog, Friends With Benefits, Bad Teacher and In Time. But now, after much speculation, the star has confirmed he’s returning to his first love, music.

According to Billboard, Timberlake has recorded around 20 songs for his third solo album.

The 31-year-old singer said in his video: “Someone asked me the other day, ‘So are you just done with music?'”

“[But] I don’t wanna put anything out that I don’t love … You have to wait for it.”

He added: “As close as I get to it, I don’t know that I could physically torture myself year in and year out and expect it to fulfill me the way that it does and the way that it is right now. I don’t want to put anything out that out that I feel is something I don’t love. You just don’t get that every day. You have to wait for it…I’m ready.”

Following the announcement, a countdown clock appeared on the screen indicating more information will be available in three days.

It is thought that Justin is to team up with US producer Timbaland for the highly-anticipated new material – and according to Justin Bieber it’s well worth the wait.

The Baby singer wrote on Twitter: “@jtimberlake @Timbaland i have heard some stuff. u got a good reason to be ready. #greatmusic.”

According to the Sun, diva Beyonce has already announced that she has been in the studio with Justin.

She said: “I’ve been working with Pharrell and Timbaland and Justin Timberlake and Dream. We all started in the ’90s, when R&B was the most important genre, and we all kind of want that back: the feeling that music gave us.”

In 2012, Justin married actress Jessica Biel in Italy.

In a statement the couple said: “It’s great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends.”
