‘Mayan Apocalypse’: Serbia’s Mystic Mountain Targeted by Believers

Hotels on a mystical mountain in Serbia can’t handle with influx of people convinced that the end of a Mayan calendar heralds the destruction of the world on Dec 21.

Hotel owners around the mountain, called Mount Rtanj, in the east of the Balkan country, report that bookings are flooding in, as people hope that the mysterious place will save them from the apocalypse.

“In one day we had 500 people trying to book rooms. People want to bring their whole families,” said Obrad Blecic, a hotel manager.

Adherents of the Mayan calendar think the 5,100ft-high mountain, which is a part of the Carpathian range, conceals a pyramidal building inside, left behind by alien visitors thousands of years ago.

Arthur C Clarke, the British science fiction writer, has previously described Rtanj’s peak as a place of “special energy” and called it “the navel of the world”.

Doomsday cultists suggest that the place has special energy that could be channelled to protect them from the end of life as we know it, The Telegraph reports.

Predictions of the ‘upcoming’ apocalypse are based on the fact that the 5,125-year-old calendar of the Mayans, who dominated large stretches of southern Mexico and Central America centuries ago, comes to an end on Dec 21.

The possible event has already given life to hundreds of books, websites and television programmes.

However, scholars of the ancient civilization are sure that people have wrongly interpreted the meaning of the calendar and that it will not herald the world’s obliteration.

Still, that hasn’t calmed down people considering the end of the world and panic is still spreading among the credulous across the world.

As The International Business Times reports, the calendar date 12/12/12 also has a special meaning.

According to the term of numerology, 12/12/12 should have the same meaning as the predicted apocalypse date 12/21/12. For others, Dec. 12 and Dec. 21 will pass like any other day.

Both dates sum up to number 11, or the base number of 2. (12+12+2012=2036; 2+0+3+6=11; 1+1=2) Both numbers – 11 and 2 – are believed to have a mystic connection.

“If the Greek god Zeus could be compared to the number 1, then his wife and sister Hera would represent the number 2,” claims Hans Decoz of numerology.com. He links the number 2 to the feminine energy.

However, another site suggests that the number two is a symbol for “kindness, balance, tact, equalization and duality.”

“Two urges us out of our indecision, calls us to unite with like-minds, and like-ideals. Two asks us to exert our natural flow of judgment to do what is best for our souls,” the web site writes.

As far as the number 12 is considered, website simion7d.com says, “12 is a number of universal import and you see its repeating patterns in your culture; 12 hours of the day, 12 months of the year.”

The website goes on, adding: “These two dates, 12.12.12 and 12.21.12 are divinely linked.  The 12.12.12 is the gateway to what will transpire on 12.21.12.”

Well, everybody knows that the human seed grows in the feminine body – the mother. While some mothers can be temperamental and punitive, at the same time they are also nurturing.

If one must believe in a dominant energy on the dates 12.12.12 and 12.21.12, then it is best to focus on the “nurturing” aspect of the said dates, numerologists advise.
