Tamar Braxton’s “Love and War” Gets Lady Gaga Boost, Tops iTunes Chart [Video]

Tamar Braxton released her debut song Love & War this week and she already has one big fan on her side. Pop superstar Lady Gaga is giving Toni Braxton’s singing sister Tamar a big boost.

Reality star Tamar Braxton has been talking about releasing new music for a long time but after three seasons of WeTV’s Braxton’s Family Values, which  followed the interactions of her and her four sisters, including R&B legend Toni Braxton.

She also made almost a complete season of her new spinoff Tamar and Vince, it was hard not to wonder if she was all talk, and no action.

Yesterday, her new single, “Love and War” finally hit the Internet and it was definitely worth the wait. On the beautiful ballad, Tamar sings her heart out about the ups and downs of love.

The very first single off her sophomore album “Love and War” after it premiered on her reality show “Tamar and Vince”, reports the IBTimes.

Actually she already has one big fan on her side. Lady Gaga broke one of her personal rules to offer a little support to her friend Tamar Braxton. Braxton received an extra promotional push from Lady Gaga through a tweet the singer sent to her fans.

In a series of Twitter.com posts on Thursday (06Dec12), Gaga writes: “K I never promote artists but if u want your mind blown check @tamarbraxtonher “Love & War” She’s Toni Braxton sister + her voice is Beyond.”

She also tweeted: “Myself and @tamarbraxtonher have been the best of friends since her husband Vincent discovered + signed me when I was 20. She is Incredible.”

“Buy ‘Love And War’… It would mean a lot to me monsters (fans) if u would support her. Its (sic) her turn to shine,” wrote pop superstar Lady Gaga.

The Poker Face hitmaker isn’t the only celebrity helping Tamar to expand her fanbase – her famous sister Toni and R&B star Ne-Yo have also been tweeting their support for her new song.

After just one day on iTunes, the single claimed the top spot on the U.S. chart — beating out Rihanna and Taylor Swift during it’s ascent.

“I definitely did not expect this kind of response,” said Braxton. “The single came out [yesterday], and it’s number one!”

Braxton commented on her work: “And I’ve been working really hard on this album to make sure it was up to my standards. Because in the past, I just felt like I’ve done music that was up to other people’s standards. Everybody wanted me to sing songs like [my sister] Toni [Braxton]. That’s not the kind of artist that I am.”

“I really wanted to make sure that you get to see my sassiness, my fun-ness and, you know, me popping and dropping. I’m definitely doing that,” the 35-year-old added.

After the single was released on the season finale, many of her fans fluttered over to Twitter to celebrate it.

@loooove_nakitta wrote, “I looooooove BOTH hot sugar and love&war..hopefully the rest of the album isn’t a mess though..MIGHT consider buyin it.”

The Huff Port says, Tamar released her debut album “Tamar” in “2000,” but according to Billboard, the album never charted. Braxton’s currently untitled album is set to be released in February 2013.
