Psy Teaches UN Secretary Ban Ki-Moon ‘Gangnam Style’ Dance [Video]

The master of cheesy dancing Psy showed UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon how to do the popular horse-riding dance move from “Gangnam Style” during his visit to United Nations.

Two of the world’s most recognizable South Koreans stood side-by-side at the United Nations, keeping their wrists crossed to bounce on imaginary horses in “Gangnam Style” fashion.

Psy’s arm moved in a fluid, wave-like motion as his shoulders bounced as if he was riding an imaginary horse – as did the Secretary General’s.

On Tuesday, web sensation Psy stopped by the United Nations and stood next to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, smiling politely and shaking hands while photographers snapped away, CNN reports.

“Now you have the first and second famous Koreans in the same building,” joked the rapper, whose real name is Park Jae-Sang.

Then Ban addressed what can pretend to be the best compliment from a U.N. Secretary General: “You are so cool… I hope you can manage global warming.”

He added, “You know, we have tough negotiations in the United Nations. In such a case, I was thinking of playing a Gangnam Style dance, so then everyone can stop and dance. Maybe you can bring U.N. style.”

However, Ban seemed to have one small concern: “I’m a bit jealous. Until two days ago someone told me I am the most famous Korean in the world. Now I have to relinquish.”

The compliment left “Gangnam Style” singer speechless at first, but he soon returned the praise by pointing out Ban’s growing popularity in South Korea.

“He is the guy, you know, in everyone’s heart in Korea, the best among the best,” Psy said. “So now you have first and second famous Korean in the same building,” he later told reporters at a photo opportunity with the UN chief.

He went on, adding: “For all the Koreans he is the guy, you know, in everyone’s heart in Korea, the best among the best.”

“To be here and he knows me, even the thing that he knows me is so touching right now, and he’s saying he saw my video. He counted my video views. This is much more better feeling than when I did No. 2 on Billboard.”

“Gangnam Style” has been viewed by more than 532 million times since its July 15 release, thus, it has been included into YouTube’s list of 30 most-viewed videos.

According to Mashable, Psy’s Korean electronica dance holds the number three spot behind Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and Jennifer Lopez’s “On The Floor.”

The UN Chief joins a list of celebrities whom Psy has taught to dance his horse-riding “Gangnam Style.” The rapper has already galloped with Hugh Jackman (wearing Wolverine blades), Britney Spears, Ellen DeGeneres and the BBC Formula 1 team.

Earlier, Ban met a recent world’s sensation skydiver Felix Baumgartner and spoke admiringly of his amazing leap last week from a balloon 24 miles (39 kilometers) above the Earth.

Baumgartner, whose jump broke the sound barrier and set a world record, offered to give Ban skydiving lessons, The New York Daily News writes.

It was a break from the conflict and wars the UN chief usually deals with. Ban’s spokesman, Martin Nesirky, told reporters the secretary-general thinks it’s important to engage different parts of society.
