As it is well known, Kate started out in swimsuit modeling. So, swimsuit modeling is modeling, but it is a kind of modeling that has little in common with what’s going on in the studios of Joseph Altuzarra or Michael Kors, designers who have taken notice of the Michigan-born, Florida-raised former competitive horseback-riding champion.

Ms.f Upton was not thinking about high-fashion modeling when she became the Queen of the Bikini. “Coming from a sports-fanatic family, I really didn’t know a lot about the small fashion circles,” says the 20-year-old.

But reaching the pinnacle of swimsuit modeling was her simple and pure aim. “When I was able to accomplish that, I slowly started figuring things out—and when I have a goal,” she says, “I do everything to realize it.”

The fashion world is now at the top of her list of things to conquer. And the industry seems to be noticing her, as has the rest of the world, through both her swim covers and her “Dougie” tutorial on YouTube.

“You know, actually, I don’t really know why they’ve chosen me,” Kate says, “but I am excited because I love fashion. And I am excited to be in a place where I can be a good example.”

According to Telegraph, as scantily-clad covers for men’s magazines (and a certain wet T-shirt shoot with Terry Richardson) made the 20-year-old bombshell world-famous earlier this year, her career trajectory seemed focused on dominating the male titillation market. But then she threw an almighty curveball.

It became known that in June Kate scored a small profile piece in US Vogue in which she sported a modest Altuzarra outfit – rich assets covered – signalling a nod of approval from the publication’s editor Anna Wintour.

Later she covered the inaugural issue if CR Fashion Book , Carine Roitfeld’s high-fashion post- Paris Vogue project, clutching a handful of fluffy ducklings to her bosom.

Kate stood up for curvy women after being slammed by a bitchy blogger earlier this year.

“She is beautiful, sexy and all-American,” says Steven Meisel of Upton. “Not only is she hardworking and focused, but she is also very funny, upbeat, and has a really positive attitude. It’s hard to take a bad picture of her.”

Kate Upton is considered to be rather competitive. “I definitely get my competitive instinct from my mom,” she continues.

As it is known, Kate’s mother, Shelley, was a state tennis champion in Texas, as well as an avid participant in nearly every other sport. She and Upton’s father, Jeff, met while playing intramural basketball at the University of Denver.

“My father called her Hoops because she was so good at it,” Upton says. Kate followed her older sister, Laura, into competitive horseback riding. Here she first learned to win, though not as often as her sister, who still rides and has won many world titles.

Kate Upton is popular among people all over the world. The young girl sets a good example. Upton makes a point of eating, sleeping, and exercising. “I don’t want to starve myself,” she says. “I still want to hang out with my family and be a normal girl”.

David Kirsch, her personal trainer, is one of Kates biggest fans. He says:  “I have trained a lot of models and celebrities, and let me tell you, she is so determined and willing to do whatever it takes,” he adds: “She’s incredibly smart and driven.”

The young model is exactly what fashion needs. The November issue of Vogue hits newsstands nationwide on October 23rd.
