The long time Obama supporter, the actress repeatedly encouraged her fans to vote for president in the 2008 election, and criticised GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
However, it seems like Lohan has changed her mind as now she blames consistently high unemployment for the U-turn.
The scandalous actress stepped out at Mr Pink’s Ginseng Drink event at the Regent Beverly Wilshire and expressed her support for the Massachusetts governor.
“I just think employment is really important right now,” Lohan explained when asked whether she was keeping up with the upcoming election. “So, as of now, Mitt Romney. As of now.”
As everything the starlet does is complicated, she added, “It’s a long story, but you’re going to have to wait for that.”
Some sources suggest that Lohan’s personal tax rate may be another reason for her decision to endorse the Republican nominee, reports The Huff Post.
Last month, the surprisingly political actress took to Twitter to direct to President Obama, asking him to cut taxes for millionaires along with the middle class.
President Obama replied via the social network, saying: “I’ve cut taxes for those who need it: middle-class families, small businesses.”
Lohan wrote another message in response: “We also need to cut them for those that are listed on Forbes as “millionaires” if they are not, you must consider that as well.”
Anyway, it’s good to see that the starlet is keeping up with the presidential elections as earlier this week he family made headlines after a disturbing phone call was leaked by Michael Lohan, Lindsay’s father.
In the tape, the actress can be heard crying and accusing her mother was ‘on cocaine’ and spewing verbal abuse at her on their way home from a Manhattan nightclub, writes The Daily Mail.
However, now the star assures that she lied that her mother is drug abused, and says she’s ‘done’ with her father after he released the tape.
“I think everyone kind of knows my father’s main objective has always been to discredit my mom and gain all he can to gain what he can from my name in a sensational and obvious hunger for fame,” she said.
She went on, adding: “I’m ashamed for him. And it’s hurtful to me that he’s chosen this road to go with yet again. It’s unfortunate that I can’t just call my dad and have a conversation.”
The actress said she was ‘regretful’ about the argument with her mother, and told reporters things were ‘really hurtful and untrue’.
“My mom does not do cocaine, clearly, and that’s a fact. She’s an amazing woman,” the actress assures.
Police arrived to Dina Lohan’s Merrick, Long Island home after Lindsay’s call to her father. But now she said despite the explosive nature of her allegations at the time, she never indicated he should call the police.
“I lied about things that I said because I was angry and I was having a fight and I called my dad because who else am I going to call?”
“That was my dad that did that. That was never asked of him and he should not have done that,” she said.
