Madonna Urges Fans to Vote For Obama, ‘a Black Muslim’ [Video]

Madonna made an odd endorsement for Barack Obama at a concert in Washington, D.C. on Monday.

During a concert performance on her MNDA Tour last night, the singer publicly declared her support for President Obama but sounded a bit confused about his religion.

“Y’all better vote for f——g Obama, OK? For better or for worse, we have a black Muslim in the White House,” Madonna said to the crowd. “Now, …that’s some amazing s—-t. It means there is hope in this country.”

The ‘Masterpiece’ singer went on, adding that Obama “is fighting for gay rights” and urged her fans to “support the man goddamnit!”

A video which was immediately uploaded to YouTube shows Madonna delivering a rousing, profanity-laced political speech on freedom during her show, writes The Telegraph.

“Now, it’s so amazing and incredible to think that we have an African-American in the White House … we have a black Muslim in the White House … it means there is hope in this country, and Obama is fighting for gay rights, so support the man,” Madonna said.

She recently explained that she was just joking. “I was being ironic on stage,” she said in a statement.

“Yes, I know Obama is not a Muslim — though I know that plenty of people in this country think he is. And what if he were? The point I was making is that a good man is a good man, no matter who he prays to. I don’t care what religion Obama is — nor should anyone else in America.”

If you don’t know, President Obama is Christian who has never been silent about his faith. Since his previous presidential run in 2007, fringe groups and a scattering of opponents have been spreading rumours that he is Muslim, adding that he is not a natural-born US citizen.

Madonna’s comments came in the middle of a speech that touched on Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and traced the civil rights movement from America’s inception to Obama’s election.

By the way, this is not the first time Madonna to mention Obama during her concerts. Earlier this month, she thanked the Republican candidate and ripped off her shirt to reveal the word OBAMA inked across her lower back.

“I’ve seen some scary things,” she said at the time. “I’ve seen people being locked up and put in jail for speaking their minds, for being gay, for not practicing the right religion, for not dressing the proper way.”

She continued: “Yeah, it’s scary. But what it made me realize is how lucky I am to be living here in America. It doesn’t mean that this is the perfect country. We have a long way to go.”

During her live performance, the singer also expressed her gratitude for the First Lady: “Thank God for Michelle Obama.”

The 54-year-old singer, who is currently on the North American leg of her tour for her latest album “MDNA,” has been making headlines recently for her onstage antics.

She will reportedly be sued by France’s National Front after her screening footage of their party leader Marine Le Pen with a swastika superimposed on her face during one of her Paris concerts this summer.

In August, Madonna spoke out at concerts in Russia for gay rights and in support of jailed members of punk rock band Pussy Riot.
