New iPods to Share the Stage with iPhone 5 at Apple’s Sept. 12th Event?

Apple is rumored to launch the new iPod as well as the iPhone 5 at Sept. 12 in San Francisco.

While the new iPhone won’t share the stage with iPad Mini at Apple event (the smaller iPad is rumored to be launching in October), a string of new iPods will likely be present, 9to5mac claims.

As rumors suggest, the new iPod lines will be released in multiple colors, one of the series will come in two sizes, and the other two lines will come in a single storage capacity.

The current iPod nanos and iPod shuffles are already available in different colors (in two and one capacities respectively), it’s predicted that new iPod nanos and iPod shuffles are launching next week.

Some insiders reveal that the Cupertino based tech giant will probably drop a third line as well. With the iPod touch currently available in two colors and three capacities, the model seems not to be the third line that comes in multiple colors.

By the way, Apple Inc. has distributed invitations to the San Francisco event, scheduled on Sept. 12. The Financial Post writes that the typically invitation said “It’s almost here.”

It also sported a number 12 — meaning the date of the event — and cast a large shadow of the number 5, a clue that the fifth version of the popular smartphone could be in the pipeline.

The event will take place at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the place where Apple Inc. has unveiled its various previous products such as the iPad. Apple’s iPhone launches are among the most-watched events on the tech industry calendar.

The rumors, circulating around the upcoming event also suggest that the highly anticipated iPhone 5 will feature 4G LTE: the biggest no-brainer of the bunch.

Well, according to CNET, “T-Mobile doesn’t yet have an LTE network, making it even less likely that the fourth-place carrier will be getting the iPhone anytime soon”.

As far as NFC, or Near-Field Communication, a technology increasingly showing up in other smartphones, is concerned, the site predicts that the new iPhone’s slimmer design might make NFC inclusion unlikely.

It’s still unclear whether the new device will feature a new camera or not. There are speculations that the iPhone 5 could include additional camera: multiburst, improved multifocus, or a better flash. With all the other new iPhone features, advancements in camera tech could take a year off.

The next iPhone is expected to have a larger screen, a new 8-pin connector and the ability to access the latest 4G wireless data networks in the U.S.

A larger screen size seems all but certain, and all indicators say that the 4-inch screen – increased in size from the existing iPhone’s 3.5-inch screen – will sport a different aspect ratio.

A 640 x 1,136-pixel resolution screen would enable an extra row of icons on the home screen, apps with extra visible screen space above the virtual keyboard, and HD videos with less letterboxing in landscape mode.
