Friends Fear That Michael Phelps’ New Model Girlfriend Is Using Him For Fame

Friends fear that Michael Phelps’ new girlfriend Megan Rossee is only in it for the fame.

Word of a Phelps paramour broke when 25-year-old Megan posted a Twitter photo of herself with the award-winning swimmer in London on August 5; she has also been inundating him with loving messages. Photo: Megan Rossee/Facebook

Michael Phelps might earned a record-breaking 22 gold medals to his name, but it is his new hot model girlfriend, Megan Rossee, who is getting the most attention these days.

Phelps and Rossee made their public debut as a couple on Monday night, appearing together in London for a Speedo event, according to The Huff Post. They happily posed for photos, but Phelps refused to answer any questions from reporters about his relationship.

However, RadarOnline.com reported that Rossee, a 5’9″ blonde stunner who’s an aspiring model/actress in Los Angeles, is using her relationship with the famous swimmer to get her name out there.

“Michael is like a puppy dog around Megan – he’s completely in love with her,” a source told RadarOnline.com.

“However, like any young girl hoping to make it in Hollywood, she’s ambitious and knows that by associating herself with Michael she will get a lot of press herself. She’s desperate for her own fame – her career has been a slow-burner but this will certainly accelerate it.”

After the pair made a public debut at a Speedo event on Monday, Rossee’s fame skyrocketed as people scrambled to see the Olympian’s better half. With notoriety comes criticism, however, and some are already claiming Rossee is only dating Phelps for her own personal gain. Photo: Megan Rossee/Facebook

“Megan supplements the little money she makes through modeling by working as a cocktail waitress at Blok nightclub – but neither she nor Michael want her doing that forever. Now that people know who she is, Megan is hoping that she will get more offers for photoshoots and her modeling and acting career will finally take off,” the source added.

It is actually true that after the pair made a public debut at a Speedo event on Monday, Rossee’s fame skyrocketed as people scrambled to see the Olympian’s better half.

However, Rossee’s father, Wayne Rossee, quickly defended his daughter, saying that RadarOnline’s story is complete nonsense.

“She had a career in her own right before she ever met Michael,” Wayne said. “In fact, she put things on hold to support him and go to London like he asked her to. She is not with him to be famous, she doesn’t need that from him.”

“Yes, it’s true,” Wayne Rossee told CeleBuzz. “I haven’t met him yet. I will soon.”

Then, in the understatement of the year, Rossee joked: “He’s been kind of busy.”

Megan’s father said the pair, who have been dating since January, want to spend some quality time together post-Olympics. Megan — a Los Angeles native – accompanied Phelps to both the Omaha trials and the London games.

“They plan on traveling around a bit before they come home,” he said.

Although Phelps preferred not to talk about his lady love, Rossee has been a bit more publicly affectionate, posting numerous tweets to her man and sharing private photos on Instagram.

“He took her to the Olympics at a time when he was trying to become the most decorated Olympian of all time – that’s how much she means to him,” the same insider told RadarOnline.com.

“Michael adores everything about Megan, she’s athletic, makes him laugh and she’s obviously drop dead gorgeous. But what happens when the buzz of the Olympics dies down and life goes back to normal? Will she want to date a retired swimmer?”
