Rumors that the comely blonde model Kate Upton and Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander are a unit appeared after a series of photos of them together.
Kate Upton, a native of St. Joseph, Mich., has been recently spotted in Verlander’s suite at the Palace of Auburn Hills at last Thursday’s Aerosmith concert. Upton was reported to be dancing around in a Tigers hat in Verlander’s suite at Comerica Park on Friday.
According to witnesses, the two were joined by her BFF, model Lizzy Glynn, and his pal Frank Viola, Jr. (son of Minnesota Twins’ pitcher Frank Viola), reports The Huffington Post.
After the show, Upton and Co moved to a bar with a mechanical bull (also nearby is Auburn Hills’ Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar And Grill). Glynn later took to Twitter and wrote that Viola chivalrously took off his pants so she could wear them on the ride.
“He took off his pants so I could wear them to ride the mechanical bull.Yes, Southern gentlemen do exist!! @FrankViola3,” Glynn Tweeted.
Soon after the gang was seen having a good time with a few cocktails at Birmingham’s South Bar. The next night, Upton turned up at the Detroit Tigers game sporting a baseball cap with the Old English D.
Recent reports claimed of Amanda Waynick, who said she stopped by Coyote Joe’s in Shelby Township on Thursday to celebrate her 25th birthday, immediately noticed Verlander at the club.
“I went up to him, told him it was my birthday and that he was my Tiger and asked if he would take a picture with me,” Waynick told reporters. “He laughed, kind of walked by me, but he said no.”
She went on: “I was like, ‘OK, fine, I don’t want a picture with you anyway.’ And he laughed at that, too.”
However, Amanda didn’t recognize the 20-year-old model, who was in the same group of about five with the pitcher.
Despite that, she did get her to pose for a photo, and a friend told her who it was on Sunday. “She said happy birthday, posed for the picture, and that was really it,” she added.
“My mom always asks me if I’ve ever met (Verlander). Well, I did. But now I have to find a new Tiger as he turned me down,” she said, laughing. “(Doug) Fister’s looking pretty good now.”
Of course, the Tigers’ pitcher was linked to his longtime girlfriend Emily Yuen, so Waynick’s story may mean nothing special. Verlander opened up of Emily in April: “She’s the one, but I’m not ready.”
“Or it may be the starting American League pitcher in the 2012 MLB All-Star Game and the all-star creator of the Cat Daddy video hitting it,” The Hollywood Gossip suggests.
Upton and Verlander are yet to comment on all the issue, and there is no telling where they began their budding friendship.
