Channing Tatum Shows Off Stripper Moves on ‘Today’ Show [Video]

Despite premiere of stripper film, Magic Mike, is scheduled on Friday, some lucky fans in New York City got an early preview of the Channing Tatum’s moves Wednesday.

The Magic Mike star appeared on the show Wednesday morning accompanied by a group of dancers who performed a flash-mob strip show. The 32-year0old actor showed off some dance moves, but kept his clothing on for the show.

Channing Tatum will be showing plenty of skin in Steven Soderbergh’s film, which is scheduled to open in theaters on June 29 and also stars such Hollywood actors as Joe Manganiello, Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer.

The film is based on Channing’s own experiences in Miami as an 18-year-old stripper, writes The Hollywood Reporter.

“It was a crazy time in my life,” Channing told Al Roker and Ann Curry on the show. “I’m not ashamed of it, but I don’t know if I’m not proud of it. It was definitely a crazy part of my life, and I survived it.”

Tatum also revealed that he wanted to survive on his own and not have to rely on his parents, who, as it turns out, had no idea of their son’s occupation.

“They never knew,” Tatum confessed. “I never told them. I was like, ‘Ah, you know, I’m just working at this other job over here, over there.’ But my dad ended up having to find out when I did (‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’). I gave Ellen a lap dance.”

It seems like it’s too much for family secrets. But of course, as far as his wife, actress Jenna Dewan is concerned, it was never a secret.

“She married a stripper – kind of,” Tatum insisted. “She knew what she was getting into, and it was kind of a prerequisite that I would always, you know, give her dances if she wanted one.”

Earlier in the year, Tatum revealed that out of all the films he had coming out in 2012 (including The Vow, 21 Jump Street and G.I. Joe: Retaliation), Magic Mike means the most to him.

“We really want it to be good,” he said at the time. “I know it’s getting a lot of press and a lot of hype and it’s scary when that happens because you just want people to like it, or to understand it.”

The Vow actor is also a producer on the Magic Mike, and he worked with Reid Carolin on the screenplay.

Tatum said that he and Carolin only had a very small window of time to get the script to Soderbergh, and so they wrote the script in about a month.

“It’s not all my life, but it’s definitely all my experiences,” the actor said. “I basically poured all my memories and stories out. We just kind of wrote something entirely unique to itself.”

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, another Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello gave his own private strip tease, including a seductive body roll, to Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kobt, reports The Daily Mail.

“Stripping is very basic,” he explained. “There are only a few moves.”

The 35-year-old actor added about shooting the film with his fellow hunks: “Nothing bonds you together like shaving your legs and putting on thongs. It was like a party where you didn’t want to be in the bathroom just in case something crazy happens.”
