Kate Upton Strips for GQ Magazine: ‘I Understand why My Male Followers Like Me’

19-year-old Swimsuit model Kate Upton sizzles in a poolside photoshoot for the July issue of GQ magazine.

In the past fifteen months, Kate Upton has melted YouTube, transformed her Twitter feed into a product-placement bonanza, sparked a series of censorship controversies, acted in a couple of movies, made her Saturday Night Live debut, and—this part’s almost quaint—landed her first Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover.

“It’s like any job,” the model reveals to the July issue of GQ. “You find your strengths and play them up.”

Her flirty personality and gorgeous appearance have helped Kate to both launch her into the spotlight and land her in hot water over her oft-racy exploits.

A 20-second clip of Kate doing the “Cat Daddy” in the teeny Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue bikini became a viral sensation online, but was temporarily yanked for violating “community guidelines,” writes The New York Daily News.

However, there were angry fans who protested, and YouTube eventually put the clip back up.

Besides, for her role as a cameo in the Farrelly brothers’ “The Three Stooges,” the model was highly criticized by the Catholic church for donning a barely there “nun-kini.”

“I can see why the Catholic Church would be upset with me,” she says. “But it was just for fun, and I try not to take it more seriously than that.”

The world famous blonde, who grew up riding horses in Florida, isn’t shy about knowing her appeal.

“I grew up in Florida riding horses, so for the majority of my life I was either in boots and jeans or a bathing suit,” she admits. “I understand why my male followers like me.”

Upton grew up in a traditional, all-American family: dad occupied the position of the high school athletic director and mom stayed home with the kids.

“And though Kate grew up in Florida, she was born in the deeply conservative southwest corner of Michigan, where her uncle, Fred Upton, has been a Republican congressman for twenty years,” reports GQ.

The model has two tattoos: a horseshoe on her wrist and a small cross on the inside of her finger. “You have to think hard with a tattoo,” she says. “What will I love for the rest of my life?” Horses and Jesus seem like safe bets.

Kate Upton has been linked to New York Jets quarterbacks, but she has never confirmed nor denied such rumors. Mark Sanchez was spotted bearing gifts at Kate’s apartment, while Tim Tebow was caught chatting up Kate at an Oscar party.

In the latest GQ issue the model revealed: “I’m going to be less emotionally involved this year.” Kate’s sexy body has also proved to be a little problematic during a photo shoot for the magazine.

“For the GQ photo shoot, we were on the ride where the seat spins while the actual ride is spinning, and I’m wearing a one-piece,” she describes the incident.

“And all of a sudden the whole entire top falls off! I’m holding myself, laughing, turning bright red, but a lot of people are watching, so they kicked us out of the Santa Monica Pier – it was so embarrassing.”

But the model looked back on the accident with a laugh: “You wouldn’t think that would happen with a one-piece!”
