Quran-Burning Pastor Terry Jones Hangs President Obama Effigy Outside Florida Church

Terry Jones, Florida pastor who ignited an international furor by threatening to burn a pile of Korans, has applied his subtle touch to the 2012 presidential campaign by constructing a gallows from which a likeness of President Barack Obama now hangs in effigy.

Apparently getting antsy from a lack of publicity about its crushing ignorance and stupidity, Pastor Terry Jones' Dove World Outreach Center now features a gallows with a Barack Obama dummy hanging above American and gay pride flags. Photo: YouTube

The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla., has hanged an effigy of President Barack Obama from a gallows on its front lawn, writes The Huff Post.

DWOC pastor Terry Jones said the move cae in response to Barack Obama’s recent endorsement of same-sex marriage, as well as his stance on abortion and what Jones called his “appeasing of radical Islam.”

“President Obama is killing our nation. We have hung Uncle Sam to represent that,” Jones said, in a YouTube video posted Wednesday:

“President Obama’s policies on same-sex marriage, his policies on abortion, President Obama has no problem killing babies. He has no problem supporting radical Islam, he has no problem supporting and giving financial support to the Muslim Brotherhood…” Jones said.

He went on: “It is time for the United States to stand up. It is why we have chosen the hanging of Uncle Sam to represent how Hussein Obama is destroying our nation. And that is why we have now chosen the hanging of Hussein Obama to represent how the American people must, in a peaceful way, stand up and reject President Obama, reject his anti-American policies. It’s time for us to stand up.”

According to The Smoking Gun, the display in the front yard of Jones’s Dove World Outreach Center features a dummy wearing an Obama mask hanging from a yellow noose.

Along with an American flag and a rainbow-striped gay pride flag, the scene alsio includes an Uncle Sam dummy and a child’s doll hanging from the right hand of the Obama figure.

Nearby, the words “Obama is Killing America” are printed on a trailer.

“It is time again for America to become America, for us to hold our government accountable, for us to resist, for us to send a very clear message to Washington, D.C. and President Obama… That is why we have chosen to hang President Obama as a symbol of what America needs to do. We must remove him, we must vote him out of office,” Jones said.

Meanwhile, writes The Broward-Palm Beach New Times, The Secret Service is currently investigating Jones in response to the display.

“The Secret Service is aware of this incident and will conduct appropriate follow-up,” said spokesman Brian Leary.

The DWOC came under intense in 2011 after Jones burned a copy of the Quran, a move which sparked three days of violent rioting in Afghanistan that resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people, including seven U.N. workers.

The DWOC has been also criticized for cult-like rules detailed in an “Academy Rulebook” prepared by terry Jones’s wife.

Fox instanse, prospective ministers were directed to cut off most contact with family members.

“Family occasions like wedding, funerals or Birthdays are no exception to this rule,” students were warned. “No phone calls. Exceptions can be made under certain circumstances but only after receiving permission.”

At the same time, this is not the first time that an effigy of Barack Obama has been hanged.

In 2009, a Kentucky grand jury refused to indict two men who hanged an Obama effigy on the campus of the University of Kentucky.

The men had been charged with burglary and disorderly conduct, the latter count associated with hanging the effigy. The lawyer for the two men said that the disorderly conduct charge violated his clients’ rights under the First Amendment.

In March 2010, a teacher at a failing Rhode Island school hanged an effigy of the president in his classroom.

Also in March 2010, another dummy was found hanging on Main Street in the Georgia hometown of President Jimmy Carter.
