According to the reports, Travolta’s former personal secretary and a boyfriend of the pilot revealed the news.
“I did everything for him, including taking care of his personal and professional schedules. Of course I knew he was gay. It never bothered me,” one-time secretary Joan Edwards told reporters.
Pilot Doug Gotterba, who now runs a charter plane service in Camarillo, Calif., confirmed that he worked for Travolta for six years in the 1980s.
“That’s how I met Doug. We both worked for John at the same time. Doug is a wonderful guy and we are still good friends. He told me that John was gay and they had a sexual relationship,” Edwards added.
Gotterba’s one-time boyfriend Robert Britz said the pilot didn’t keep in secret his years-long gay affair with the Hollywood star.
“Doug told me right at the beginning of our relationship that he’d had a homosexual relationship with John Travolta in the 1980s,” Britz said.
He continued: “Doug said John was constantly grabbing at his genital area, but he put up with John’s sexual advances because working for him was ‘lucrative.’ ”
Britz added that Travolta’s personal flyboy eventually turned away from the actor, grossed out by his weight and B.O.
“After a few years, Doug grew apart from John sexually, and John’s advances eventually started to repulse him,” Britz said. “The relationship ended shortly thereafter.”
“Doug said he hated sleeping with John because his body was very hairy, and he didn’t like the way John smelled,” he explained. “John became very heavy between movies. Doug recalled him ‘huge’ and said it turned him off.”
Moreover, Gotterba’s boyfriend revealed that he was shown a home video of Gotterba and Travolta in a hotel room. “I personally saw about two minutes of Doug’s home video showing John Travolta sitting at the end of a bed with his shirt off.”
“There were plates of food in front of him. The video appeared to be shot in a hotel room. Doug made it clear that it was very lucrative for him to be what he called John’s ‘personal right hand man’ and homosexual partner,” he added.
As Radar Online writes, Travolta’s team is doing their best to hide his homosexuality by setting him up on a date with 16-year-old starlet Brooke Shields.
“The supposed relationship reached a head when John was being interviewed by a magazine journalist and just happened to take two lovey-dovey phone calls from Brooke during the interview,” author Wensley Clarkson wrote in his 1997 biography John Travolta: Back in Character.
“Close friends of John knew perfectly well there was no romance with Brooke. But the rumors certainly helped to improve John’s image,” he added.
As Huff Post reported last week, Travolta is currently the most sought-after star interview among top TV journalists including Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric and Matt Lauer.
“John is literally the most wanted person in the world right now,” one top TV executive is quoted as saying. “Everyone wants him, and he can literally pick who he wants to sit down with, if he decides to ever tell his side of the story at all.”
The actor, who is married to actress Kelly Preston, has been plagued by rumors about his sexuality for years.
