Wearing only a pair of wet jeans, the 37-year-old Beckham emerges topless from a swimming pool for the first ever man-only cover for Elle magazine, with a smouldering stare, showing off his numerous tattoos and six pack.
The known to everyone footballer said last month he felt ‘honoured’ to become the first man covering Elle Magazine. And editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy told during the interview:
“David Beckham is a national hero… He is an icon and Elle is known for featuring icons on its cover. This is a first for us on the newsstand and I believe he is loved by men and women alike.”
She went on: “Anyway, who doesn’t want to see a picture of one of the world’s most handsome men on the front cover of a magazine? It will be a collector’s issue.”
However, that is not the only good news for football fans: the accompanying interview is equally revealing. The father-of-four shares his thoughts on fame, saying that neither it nor money has ever interested him.
“I never thought about the money, the fame. It never interested me, and it doesn’t interest me now. None of that has ever excited me. . .” he said.
When asked to briefly talk about how he views himself, David said: “How would I sum myself up? I don’t know, I prefer other people to do that,” the footballer told the magazine. “Erm… a little bit shy.”
Becks also spoke on fatherhood with his new baby girl Harper: “It’s great. I love to bite her legs, or shoulders. It’s how a baby should be. She’s so beautiful.”
And hasn’t forgot his wife Victoria: “She comes home and shows me what she’s been doing all day and what exciting dresses and bags she’s got coming through. And then I say something boring like ‘I got kicked today.”
“But we listen to each other,” he explained. “We try to go out at least once a week, just the two of us, a quiet dinner somewhere. It’s not about wearing a nice dress or a nice suit. It’s just going out and chatting and having some time together.”
According to Independent, we can expect to see a lot more of Becks over the coming week – probably with more clothes on – although when it comes to undressing, the footballer does have form.
Quite recently he’s stripped off before for Emporio Armani adverts in order to promote his own line of best-selling underwear for H & M – a range that even the President of the United States is aware of.
On his visit to the White House last week the President quipped, ““He is tough. In fact, it is a rare man who can be that tough on the field and also have his own line of underwear. David Beckham is that man…”
In response, Becks says that he will send the President a big box of underwear to thank him for the job: ““To be in the White House was huge, I think, for myself. And to be given a little bit of a stick by the president was even bigger.”
