People magazine has named Beyonce as the World’s Most Beautiful Woman for 2012, reports Billboard. The 30-year-old singer tops the magazine’s annual list of the “World’s Most Beautiful.”

Beyonce Knowles, married to rapper Jay-Z, credits the January birth of daughter Blue Ivy Carter as her beauty secret, according to Herald Sun.

“I feel more beautiful than I’ve ever felt because I’ve given birth,” the singer said. “I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this Earth.”

The Telegrah writes that the singer said she had learned to love flat shoes, minimal make-up and even a DIY haircut as part of her “relaxed, natural me”.

She added her rapper husband Jay-Z “loves” her casual look and spoke of her new purpose in life after giving birth to baby Blue Ivy.

“She’s just the cutest thing,” told Beyoncé, who croons one-of-a-kind tunes to her daughter and professes to “love” changing diapers,  in the interview to People.

We are all interested whether Blue resembles mom or dad? “She looks like Blue,” the singer says. “She’s her own person.”

“The best thing about having a daughter is having a true legacy,” she adds. “The word ‘love’ means something completely different now.”

In the interview, Beyonce also revealed she had swapped her army of stylists, hairdressers and make-up artists for her own fair hand.

“I recently cut two inches myself. I just parted it in the middle and snipped,” she said of her previously high-maintenance hair.

MTV writes that the singer tried to stay as glam as possible, right up until she went into labor. “I didn’t feel that I looked beautiful during birth — but who does?” she said.

“After being pumped with all those fluids and gaining so much weight, with my swollen lips and cheeks, I barely recognized myself,” she said. “I tried my best to roller-set my hair and I wore my [lip] gloss when I arrived at the hospital.”

“I committed to the end and wore my kitten heels. It makes me laugh thinking about it,” Beyonce recalled. “But after many hours of labor, I didn’t care how I looked. It was all about the miracle that God gave me — the opportunity to deliver a human being.”

Now the multi-million-selling singer says she has found a new love for comfortable flat shoes.

“I never thought there would be a day when I wouldn’t wear heels. Now that I have a child, I walk around holding her all day, I’m buying loafers and oxfords” she said. “I love them because they’re comfortable, and shorter heels too.”

The singer herself was surprised by how quickly she managed to look so good.

“I’m proud that my waist came back so fast. … I had to get my tone back. I’m definitely softer,” she said. “But I feel my body bouncing back. Whatever was tight and muscular, like my legs, I’m seeing it come back. You just have to work at it.”

Other celebrities on People’s list include Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman and Jessica Pare of “Mad Men.” Last year’s winner, Jennifer Lopez, also made the 2012 list.

Kidman, 44, who was People’s most beautiful in 2002, is a regular on the list, while 32-year-old actor Rose  Byrne and Elle Macpherson, 48, joined Kate Middleton, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Adele, Sofia Vergara and Megan Fox.
