The two met and fell in love during the filming of the first season of “True Blood,” on which their characters Sookie and vampire Bill Compton engage in a heated romance.
Anna has previously admitted she doesn’t find it strange having to shoot sex scenes with her spouse for the racy TV vampire drama.
She has said: “Maybe it should be weird, simulating sex with your husband in front of people. But it’s really not.”
The actress continued: “When it’s a love scene with someone you actually love it’s not, ‘Can I touch him here, can I touch him there?’ You know what your boundaries are, or aren’t I suppose.”
Anna revealed two years ago that she is bisexual and has previously admitted she faces a lot of prejudice because she is attracted to both men and women.
She said then: “Frankly no one had ever asked me about being bisexual before. There is a lot of prejudice against us but the more people talk about it, the less of a deal it will be. Who people choose to sleep with or spend their lives with shouldn’t matter, not that anyone particularly cares who I’m attracted to.”
However, Moyer claimed that he wasn’t surprised at all: “I’ve never been in a relationship before in which, literally within the first three days, all the cards were laid out…”
He added: “It wasn’t something that was kept from me. I condone what she has done 100 percent, and it’s her business to talk about it, not mine. It doesn’t change anything. I’m proud of who she is.”
Paquin and Moyer met on the set in 2007 and married in 2010. “It was a beautiful evening to get married and the sunset was gorgeous. Anna and Stephen seemed very excited to celebrate their wedding day,” a source told that time.
“It’s great to have the freedom to enjoy your work and not feel like you’re leaving your other life behind,” Paquin said of the couple’s relationship. “It’s a pretty sweet setup.”
“With Anna it’s just about pure trust, on camera and off,” Moyer gushed after the wedding. “I have never trusted anybody like I trust Anna.”
“I feel so lucky right now,” Paquin agreed. “Life is pretty great.”
According to an insider, Paquin and Moyer are “overjoyed” by the news.
“They have already started telling friends and family,” a source told E! News. “They are so excited and can’t wait. Anna is very happy that she is going to be a mom, and Stephen is extremely excited.”
Last year Paquin revealed to Marie Claire about her desire to put off having kids with her then-fiance.
“I have trouble planning anything more than brunch with my friends,” Paquin told the mag. “But when the time’s right, we’ll do it.”
Paquin, 29, and Moyer, 42, will reprise their roles as Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton when “True Blood” returns for its fifth season on June 10.
