Jason Statham is the latest star to insult the reality star Kim Kardashian, lashing out in Details magazine about pop culture.
The Hollywood hardman has, perhaps stating the obvious, called Kardashian nothing more than a ‘brand,’ reports the UK’s Daily Mail.
When asked in the interview if he thought of himself as a brand, the 44-year-old said: “F*** no. Why should I?”
He was told: “People see a guaranteed $30million a film as a brand in need of management”. Statham replied: ‘F***’ ’em. Kim Kardashian’s a brand.’
The slam comes after ‘Mad Men’ star Jon Hamm and James Bond himself Daniel Craig both spoke out about Kardashian, tells Daily Telegraph.
Jon Hamm recently called Kim Kardashian a ‘F***ing idiot’. “Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated,” he told April’s Elle UK magazine.
‘Being a f***ing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly,’ Hamm said. Kardashian replied by calling his comments “careless” on Twitter.
“I mean, I just feel like, to be honest, it’s all about trying to stay focused and keep everything positive,” she explained. “It really takes a lot more energy and effort to be harsh than to say something nice and be positive.”
But during an appearance on The Today Show this week, 41-year-old Hamm firmly stood by his remarks: ‘I don’t think my comments were careless. I think they were accurate.’
Hamm went further and attacked the culture of reality television. ‘It’s a part of our culture that I certainly don’t identify with, and I don’t really understand the appeal of it other than in a sort of car crash sensibility,’ the actor said.
“And it’s not something that I partake in or enjoy, but it is what is and here we are,” he said.
Last year James Bond star Daniel Craig spoke out about the media hype surrounding Kardashian’s 72-day wedding in British GQ.
‘You see that and you think, “What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f***ing idiot on television and then you’ll pay me millions?” Craig said.
“I’m not judging it. Well, I am, obviously,” James Bond stare added. One more actor Jonah Hill also lashed out at Kim and her family.
‘The truth of it is, I have friends who work in TV and the Kardashians get higher ratings than their TV shows. Shows that people actually work hard on – writing and creating and trying to tell stories,” the 27-year-old actor said.
‘The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting. It’s a super disgusting part of our culture, but I still find it funny to make a joke about it,” he said.
Hill added: ‘The Kardashians are as famous as our president. What does that tell you about how skewed our society is?’
Kim’s mother Kris Jenner responded to the criticism, saying: “It’s not made him look like the world’s nicest guy.”
“The right thing for a real man to do now would be to issue a public apology. The easy thing would be to criticize his career now, but our family won’t stoop to that level.”
