The new device is reported to look very similar to its predecessor with the same 9.7-inch screen and shape. However, the iPad 3’s higher resolution seems to be the hot topic related to the new device, setting it apart from iPad 2.
According to Mac Rumors, the new Apple’s product will have a 2048×1536 display, compared to the iPad and iPad 2’s 1024×768 displays.
Having placed the displays of both models under a microscope, the site managed to highlights clusters of 4 pixels from the iPad 2 and clusters of 16 pixels from the iPad 3.
“Such a screen should be able to display much sharper images as compared to the previous generation iPads,” says Mac Rumors.
“While these iPad 3 screens weren’t directly sourced from Apple, they are labeled as OEM replacement parts for the iPad 3 and are apparently in mass production.”
The site added: “The difficulties of any 3rd party in mass producing 2048×1536 9.7” Retina displays make us quite confident that these represent legitimate iPad 3 parts.”
In addition to a resolution the iPad 3 will have a camera with 8 megapixels, as was rumored before. To compare: the current iPad 2 back camera is 1 megapixel in resolution.
The next generation device will also include 4G LTE connectivity, and run on Verizon and AT&T’s LTE networks. It’s currently unknown if Sprint or T-Mobile will sell the new iPad. An 8-inch iPad is also in the making.
In addition to all these features, it will also boast a quad-core Apple A6 processor, will run of the new iOS 5 operating system which includes multi-touch gesture technology and multitasking features, says AU’s News website.
The user will reportedly able to enjoy the iCloud technology which allows storing documents, applications, and accessing songs on iTunes without depositing them on the phone’s memory.
Among the leaked pieces of information is the news that it is not clear whether Apple will name the new device the iPad 3 or the iPad 2S.
The other iPad 3 rumors claim that the new Apple’s product will have a teardrop design and aluminum plate casing, writes iPad3ReleaseDate.com.
As for the width, although sources insist that it’s going to be slimmer, there’s more proof to believe that iPad 3 will be a lot thicker than iPad 2. And the reason behind could be a longer battery life.
One more reported feature is Siri which became known with the release of the largely successful iPhone 4S. It is a voice command virtual assistant that helps the user get things done. Now, Apple is said to be hard at work to make an upgraded version of Siri and adopt it in the new iPad 3.
And finally, the last rumor that was confirmed is that the release date of the iPad 3 is expected on March 2012. There’s no exact date bearing in mind Apple’s traditions, the iPad 3 will probably reach the big market in a week after the main event in San Francisco.
