Despite the fact that the singer has dedicated her song “Peacock” to the evangelical quarterback Tim Tebow before the Super Bowl, it  doesn’t mean the two are a couple.  At least, Tebow has claimed it isn’t true.

The wave of rumors appeared after Katy Perry’s mother, who is also an evangelical, said she would like to see her daughter and the clean cut virgin quaterback get together. According to the sources, Perry’s parents think that “Tebow is the perfect guy for their daughter. He’s handsome, charming, intelligent and above all, a good Christian.”

Tebow has recently met with 100 kids at the Challengers Boys & Girls Club in south Los Angeles, promoting books and reading, along with sharing his struggle with dyslexia since he was a kid, says E! Online. Here is a thing: Perry was also in L.A. this weekend performing at the Grammys on Sunday night.

So, when asked by one of the kids in the group whether there was any news to report regarding himself and the singer, he responded: “No, me and Katy Perry don’t have a thing, but she’s a very good artist,” he said, smiling. “I’m single. But I’m doing just fine though. I’ll just be around my brothers and friends. We’ll just have a good time.”

The starlet attended and presented the offensive rookie of the year award at the NFL Honors on the eve of Super Bowl XLVI. “Hi, Tim. My parents say, ‘Hi,’ ” Perry said on stage that night while playfully waving to Tebow, who sat in the front row laughing, writes USA Today. What is more, Perry dedicated song “Peacock” to evangelical Tim Tebow at a pre-Super Bowl party Saturday night.

Katy, who originates from the family of Christian ministers, said “This one goes out to Tim Tebow,” before singing the single at the DIRECTV Sixth Annual Celebrity Beach Bowl party Saturday night in Indianapolis, Ind. – her first U.S. concert since her divorce with Russell Brand was finalized. However, there is no report that quarterback was at that party when Perry gave a shout-out to him.

In the recent interview Tebow told reporters: “I’m not out there doing a lot of things. I guess it is one of the frustrating things where I am (in life). I love meeting and talking with people, socializing and hanging out. But people can read it the wrong way.” During that time he was too busy trying to lead Denver to a Super Bowl, Tebow said he was single, adding that he was “careful about leading girls on.”

By the way, Perry isn’t the only celebrity  who has been linked to the quarterback recently. Plenty of reports claimed reality TV star Kim Kardashian was interested Tebow, stating that she had a “huge crush” on him and had been attempting to make him her new man. According to the Huff Post, the reports were totally unsubstantiated, as Kardashian was recently reported swearing off dating football players in general.
