As it was revealed, Britney is now engaged to her former agent Jason Trawick with whom she has been dating since May 2010.
The pop star posted a message on her Twitter: “OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!!”
Trawick, who proposed while the couple was celebrating his 40th birthday, confirmed the information Friday on celebrity gossip TV show Access Hollywood: “Yes, we are engaged,” said Trawick.
Trawick also added that he got down on one knee to propose and Spears’ sons, Sean Preston, 6, and Jayden James, 5, were witnesses of the happy event.
According to Us Weekly’s source, Spears knew the engagement would happen by the end of the year: “This is something they’ve both wanted for a long time. It’s a way to cement their family. They’re both extremely happy and can’t wait to become man and wife.”
The marriage will be the third one for the ‘Toxic’ singer. She experienced a 55-hour Las Vegas union to childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004 and a marriage to Kevin Federline, with whom she has two sons, six-year-old Sean Preston and five-year-old Jayden James. This marriage lasted two years and ended in 2006.
“Jason proposed to Britney Thursday night in Los Angeles. He would have never proposed to her in Las Vegas because she got married there.”
It was also reported that Trawick made a proposal at a private dinner, and presented Spears with a three-carat round stone and pave diamond ring.
The couple’s love story began after Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, seized power over her finances and career decisions via legal conservatorship. He has given Trawick permission to marry his daughter, but he wanted Trawick to sign a prenuptial agreement.
“Brit’s folks are simply over the moon that Jason will become a member of the family. Her parents love and trust Jason with their daughter,” a source close to the family said.
“For a long time it was uncertain if Britney would ever be able to find true happiness and love because of her various mental health issues, but Jason is so patient, loving and understanding, and fully supportive of Britney. Jason is very close to Britney’s mom, Lynne.”
Unfortunately, there are several difficulties Spears must overcome before getting married.
The star won’t marry until several lawsuits that have been filed against her, including one by her former manager, Sam Lutfi, are settled or dismissed.
“Lawyers for Britney’s conservatorship have been successful in keeping her from being deposed in the Lutfi litigation, and the lawsuit involving her Elizabeth Arden fragrance,” the source told.
“First of all, everyone involved wants Britney to get married once the conservatorship has been lifted. She could get married under the conservatorship, but the judge would have to sign off on it. “
“If that were to happen, lawyers repping Lutfi would absolutely go into court and argue that if Britney were able to get married, she should be able to be deposed.”
“There is no way Team Spears is going to let that happen. It will likely be a long engagement, which is fine with Britney and Jason. They are 100 percent solid and very much in love.”
The couple is getting ready for celebrating their engagement.
“Jason and Britney will be celebrating their engagement in Vegas with friends tonight though. It will be an engagement/birthday celebration for Jason,” the insider reveals. [Via The Telegraph and Radar Online]
