Superstar DJ David Guetta released his latest album “Nothing But the Beat” recently. This much anticipated album is a two disc set which caters to Guetta’s massive audience range – the first disc is meant for newer audiences familiar with the DJ’s radio-friendly pop-meets-house style reminiscent of “Sexy Bitch” and “I Gotta Feeling”. It’s a star-studded disc that features Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Timbaland, Dev, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Taio Cruz, Ludacris, and Sia.
The second disc pays tribute to Guetta’s house roots with which he still identifies primarily before all else. In true dance music fashion, the second disc lets the beat take the spotlight without the hype of celebrity vocals. David Guetta is arguably the driving force in today’s Europop dance craze that has swept stateside and brought EDM to the forefront of American music.
With this newest album, he gives hip-hop, pop, and house fans something to enjoy. The Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood will be lit in red on Tuesday in honor of the release of Nothing But The Beat, making it the first time that the landmark building has ever been lit to mark an album’s release. The French-born Guetta is in the U.S. this week for a number of events celebrating the release of Nothing But The Beat.
On Tuesday, Aug. 30, he will attend the the first stateside screening of his documentary Nothing But The Beat, produced by Coca Cola’s Burn Energy Drink in conjunction with Guetta’s “What A Music.” The film gives fans unique insight into Guetta’s life, career, and meteoric rise from underground house DJ into one of the world’s most sought-after DJ/producer/collaborators. The screening will take place at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood.
On August 31st, Guetta will perform “Where Them Girls At,” the first single off Nothing But The Beat, with its featured vocalists Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida on NBC’s America’s Got Talent. On Wednesday, August 31st. This will be the first that all three artists will perform the summer hit together on television. Guetta heads to Chicago for the North Coast Music Festival at Union Park, followed by a headlining gig at the east coast’s largest electronic music festival, Electric Zoo on Saturday, Sept. 3.
Also happening today is “24 Hours of Nothing But Digital,” the world’s biggest online party taking place at http://24hour.davidguetta.com/. For 24 hours from 10 a.m. (CT), those who log on will find hourly competitions, digital goodies, live chats with David, and more surprises.
“Where Them Girls At” is Guetta’s fasting-selling single to reach gold status in his career. It is now almost platinum and has been on the top of the charts throughout the summer.. The video has been viewed over 46 million times on VEVO. The video for “Little Bad Girl” featuring Taio Cruz and Ludacris has been viewed over 21 million times and the song is currently getting airplay on the rhythm radio charts.
The next single, which has already been proclaimed the album’s “centrepiece” by Billboard, is “Without You” featuring Usher. Another album track, “Titanium” featuring Sia, hit #1 on The Hype Machine when it was released as part of the iTunes exclusive countdown and sold 40,000 downloads the week of release. Electronic tracks “Lunar” with Afrojack and “Sunshine” with Avicii have also reached #1 on The Hype Machine.
