In the August issue of Cosmopolitan Rihanna reveals some details of her private life. The 23-year-old singer says she’s looking for a man, but warns he’s going to have to work for it. “Guys should have to earn it. Because the minute they get it, they want something else,” she said.
But she also acknowledges that her celebrity often gets in the way of her relationships. The singer explained that it is easier to become romantically involved with somebody who also workes in showbusiness as they understand how her life workes.
She said: “It can be intimidating to guys to date someone in this industry. It’s really hard to find a guy who doesn’t care about that stuff. Right now, itâ€™s easier just having my career to focus on.” The singer likes guys who can make her laugh.
The singer, who stars on the cover of the August issue of Cosmopolitan UK in a typically sexy crop-top bustier and hot pink shorts,Â reveals that humans are part of the animal kingdom and she says she sometimes feels like the hunter and the hunted when it comes to love and sex.
She has told Cosmopolitan magazine she thinks men love to chase women, but instead of giving into them, she prefers to “keep them guessing.” Rihanna explained: “Men are like hunters, they like the chase, so you have to keep ’em guessing. I’m like that too. I get bored fast.”
She added: “I’m turned on by different things. It could be the way he looks. It could be his intelligence. It’s really a spontaneous thing.” Rihanna also said thatÂ she struggles to reveal her softer side, saying: ‘For me, itâ€™s tougher toÂ be vulnerable than to be tough.’
However, Rihanna added that she found it easier to become romantically involved with somebody who also worked in showbusiness as they understood how her life worked. She explained: ‘It can definitely be intimidating to guys to date someone in this industry. And itâ€™s really hard to find a guy who doesnâ€™t care about that stuff. Right now, itâ€™s easier just having my career to focus on.”
The Bajan star said that she didn’t have a specific type. She mused: ‘Iâ€™m turned on to a guy by different things. It could be the way he looks. It could be his intelligence. Itâ€™s really a spontaneous thing.’

She said: ‘It was a very aggressive and defensive time, and that allowed me to start not giving a shit. I walked around with a very f***-you attitude. Iâ€™ve always been good at masking my emotions. Anytime I didnâ€™t want to deal with how I felt, Iâ€™d put up my guard. But Iâ€™ve started not doing that.”
By the way, she has recently got back in contact with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. Nearly two years after he savagely beat her on the eve of the 2009 Grammys, sheâ€™s still working through her emotions about the incident. The aftermath for her has been â€śa very aggressive and defensive timeâ€ť.
Rihanna is gearing up to play the V Festival next month. She plays both the Chelmsford and Staffordshire sites, with Weston Park on 20 August and Hylands Part on 21 August.
She then returns to the UK to kick of the UK and Ireland leg of her Loud tour the month after, beginning with three nights at the Belfast Odyssey Arena on 29 September-1 October. She also plays London, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and Newcastle.
