Prince William and Kate Middleton Pick Seychelles Island for Honeymoon [Gallery]

Prince William and new wife Kate have departed for a sand-and-sun honeymoon in the Seychelles where they’ll stay at a $6,500-a-night exclusive villa, according to the British media.

Prince William with his wife Kate flew out for their honeymoon on an exclusive island yesterday. The couple took a private flight to the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean for a romantic break 10 days after their joyful wedding.

A royal insider revealed: “They slipped out of the country very quietly, they didn’t want a fuss.” The secret is out – Prince William and Kate yesterday flew out to the Seychelles for their honeymoon.

The newlyweds touched down in the stunning Indian Ocean islands after delaying the break while Wills went back to work as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.

And it looks like they have found a place in the sun just in time to avoid a spell of dreary weather that forecasters say is about to shroud their island home on Anglesey off the northwest coast of Wales.

Instead of dodging the raindrops, they will be able to relax and soak up the rays beneath the palm trees on beautiful sandy beaches. And William, 28, and 29-year-old Kate will have a little bit of paradise all to themselves.

They are believed to have chosen one of the islands that are up for private hire. It means they will have the exclusive services of a top chef and be pampered by staff looking after their every whim.

And if they fancy some adventure, they will have their pick of activities including scuba diving, sailing and fishing.

Mirror Travel Editor Nigel Thompson said: “William and Kate couldn’t have chosen a more relaxing, idyllic location.

“The Seychelles is perfect to just kick back and enjoy the sunshine and take in the spectacular scenery. But if they get bored just getting a tan there are lots of trips and activities they can try.”

A royal insider said: “I think that for the first few days at least William and Kate will just want a bit of privacy.

“After the glitter and excitement of their wedding and all the organisation it involved they can’t wait to spend some quality time on their own.”

The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands, with much to offer honeymooners with a taste for luxury – and a few bob to go with it. The climate is humid, but the temperature varies little throughout the year – from around 24C to 30C. [via The Telegraph (UK),  NY Daily Mews]
