Christina Hendricks Shines for Vivienne Westwood’s New Jewellery Line

She broke all the rules about size and became the poster girl for the buxom lady so it was only a matter of time before Christina Hendricks teamed up with fellow redhead rebel and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.

‘The Mad Men’ star previously criticised designers for ignoring curvier women like herself in favour of super skinny celebrities, and now she reveals her most fashionable role yet: as the ‘face’ of Vivienne Westwood’s ‘Get a Life’ palladium jewellery collection.

In the stunning shoots from the new advertising campaign, Hendricks’ famous curves are all on show in Westwood creations as she models headdresses and necklaces from the limited edition collection.

In one shot, Hendricks smoulders as she wears the Palladium chain heart necklace, which represents hope. While female fashion followers are likely to be gazing at the jewellery, it’s probably safe to assume the actress’s male fans won’t be looking at the necklaces.

The new collection comprises both couture and commercial pieces crafted from palladium, a naturally white metal belonging to the platinum family.

Designs from the collection are inspired by nature and from symbols of paganism – the acorn, the oak tree and the heart all feature to represent strength, power and hope for change to make the environment better for the future.

35-year-old Hendricks has been quoted waxing lyrical about Westwood’s work in the past, saying: “She is my favourite designer. As a young girl I would cut out pictures of her dresses from magazines, although I was never able to afford them. Even now I only have one in my closet”.

Hendricks said: “It was a great honour for me to be asked to represent the ‘Get a Life’ palladium jewellery collection. I admire that Vivienne uses her designs to inspire change and the pieces are just so wonderful.”

“I love that there are dramatic pieces such as the tiara and the heart necklace as well as more simple pieces such as the acorn earrings. As Palladium is a naturally white metal, the pieces really sparkle under the lights and I cannot wait to wear them on the red carpet,” she added.

And Westwood, 69, is equally praising about her new spokesmodel: “Christina is the embodiment of beauty and we were delighted to have been able to involve her with this new jewellery collection. Her style is just so complimentary to my designs. She has proved to be the perfect model for the campaign”.
