Charlie Sheen has appeared on Access Hollywood as part of a public relations blitz to make the case for his rehabilitation. In a 90-minute sit down interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush in the actor’s home in Los Angeles on Monday, Sheen revealed he stopped doing drugs because he became “bored” with them, a revelation prompted by new girlfriends Rachel and Natalie — whom he refers to as his “Goddesses.”
And, as he battles back from at-home rehab, barbs from “Two and a Half Men” creator Chuck Lorre’s vanity cards and CBS and Warner Bros. Television pulling the plug on the remainder of his show’s current season, Sheen said taking things into his own hands – with his current media blitz — and has created a new buzz in his life.
“So you left it ‘cause you’re bored. What do you get kicks on now?” Bush asked. “Look what’s going on man,” Sheen responded. “Are you getting high on this? The attention and all the stuff that’s happening?” Bush asked. “Who couldn’t be? Who wouldn’t be? I’m not saying like, I thrive on it, but [if] this is the way it has to be right now, then I gotta get in the middle of it and just drive it and just stay on point,” Sheen responded
The highest paid actor on U.S. television, whose erratic behaviour has put the future of his TV comedy series “Two and A Half Men” in jeopardy, told host Billy Bush he had done nothing wrong and he hoped producers would get back in touch.
“I’ve got to get questions answered. I think people are really starting to see that, what did I have to do with this whole thing other than living a lifestyle that everyone was supporting and rooting for because it sort of mirrored what was going on in the show,” he said.
Meantime, Charlie Sheen also opened an official Twitter account last night. In his first post Sheen tweeted: “Winning. ! Choose your Vice … #winning #chooseyourvice” with a link to a picture of him and Rachel Oberlin, one of his two ‘goddesses’, holding up bottles of fruit juice and a milkshake.
The @charliesheen thread has already amassed a following of over 600,000 fans in less than 12 hours, prompting Tonight show host Piers Morgan to write: “Time to doff my cap to @charliesheen who is about to overtake my follower count in ONE day with THREE tweets. New King Of Twitter #amazing”.
Sheen told NBC’s Today show on Monday that returning to “Two and A Half Men” would require a pay raise, saying the estimated $2 million he had been earning per episode was too low, demanding at least $3 million. In recent weeks, Sheen has been on a spending spree, buying four luxury cars for his lady friends and his soon-to-be ex-wife Brooke Mueller, but he admitted to Billy that there is, in fact, a bottom to his purse. “Money, do you have a lot of it? Are you running out?” Bush asked.
“Um, no. I’m not running out, I don’t have as much as I thought I would, but I can’t really get any sympathy behind that and I don’t expect any because everybody is suffering,” Sheen said. “I’ve established some expensive tastes and lifestyles for me and my extended family and [I’d] kind of like to support those, but I’m also the guy that believes, like I’ve said, [the] situation dictates [it] and it’s time to make changes.” [via Access Hollywood]
