David and Victoria Beckham are expecting their fourth child in the summer. The couple’s three sons – Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, 8, and Cruz, 5 – were said to be ‘very excited’ about having a new brother or sister.
Jo Milloy, spokeswoman for Mrs Beckham, confirmed the baby news but declined to give a more specific due date or confirm how far the pregnancy was advanced. The spokeswoman also added that both their families were “naturally delighted” with the announcement of a fourth child.
“I think one day, if we’re blessed to have more children, it would be amazing,” Victoria, 36, said when asked about additional kids with her soccer star husband. “It’s a lot having three boys … But who knows, one day?” It appears that day has come.
While the couple currently live with their sons in Los Angeles, the announcement was made after weeks of speculation that the Beckhams may soon return to the UK.
Former England captain David Beckham was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur but manager Harry Redknapp admitted today the deal “looked like a no-goer”.
“David is welcome to come and train here for a month or so which I think he would like to do but it looks like, as far as playing goes, it looks like a no-goer,” Redknapp added.
The Beckhams were tonight in the UK, where they are expected to stay until February when David returns to LA Galaxy and Victoria, 36, attends the New York Fashion Week.
A message on David Beckham’s Facebook page said: “I’ve got some great news to tell you all. Victoria and I are expecting our fourth child this summer. The boys are very excited about the arrival of a new brother or sister.”
Simon Fuller, the Beckham’s mentor and long term business partner, was the first to congratulate the couple. “I’m absolutely thrilled for them. Family means everything to David and Victoria and this is simply the best news they and the boys could have wished for at the start of 2011.”
Amanda Holden, who recently announced her own pregnancy, also took to her Twitter page to congratulate the couple and wrote: “Great News that the Beckham’s are expecting their 4th child! Hope they get a pink one!”
Tottenham announced that Beckham will arrive at Spurs Lodge, their training ground, in Essex, tomorrow to meet with medical staff, before returning on Tuesday to train with the first team. The club said he will train with the squad until February 10.
Harry Redknapp tonight appeared to backtrack on his previous statement, and insisted Tottenham have not completely given up hope of signing the star on load.
Following the Lilywhites’ 3-0 win over London rivals Charlton in the FA Cup, Redknapp was asked if a deal could still happen.
