Meet a real-life elastic man – a man with a mouth so rubbery it’s more than half a foot long. Francisco Domingo Joaquim’s 16.99 cm (6.69 in) wide rubbery yap has earned him the bizarre title of the ‘World’s Widest Mouth’ by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Joaquim, also known as Chiquinho, is like a real-life version of Jim Carrey’s cartoon “Mask” character. His mouth is so wide he can fit an entire can of soda inside it – sideways.

The 20-year-old, who is also known as the ‘Angolan Jaw of Awe,’ put his elastic kisser to the test at the the ‘Big Mouth’ competition in Rome this month.

The ‘Jaw of Awe’, as he’s apparently known, shot to stardom on the streets of Angolan capital Luanda – and was tracked down by Guinness Book of World Records researchers, who spent two years trying to find him. Photo: Guinness World Records

Contestants crammed their cake holes with a whole host of items including saucers, coffee cups and beer bottles into their mouths, all in the quest to be recognized as the world’s biggest big-mouth.

But none could match Chiquinho, who shot to local stardom by showing off his mouth on the streets of Luanda, the capital of Angola. The local newspaper, Zwele Angola, said he often performs at soccer games and in the local markets.

Angolan Jaw of Awe was recently featured on an Italian TV show where he was able to pop that soda can in and out of his mouth 14 times in one minute.

That’s also a record – but, Dear Readers, don’t try to break that one at home. Some of us put our foot in out mouths figuratively, but Francisco is the only one who might be able to do it for real.

Francisco and his unique talent was discovered by Guinness Book of World Record researchers scouring YouTube. After two years of searching, they tracked him down to his hometown in Angola.

Since then Francisco has become an Internet sensation with his videos racking up thousands of hits. Joaquim said it was a ‘dream come true’ to be honoured by Guinness World Records.
